Within the Social Care Administration, approximately 1,200 dedicated employees work to provide support and care to those in need in our municipality. The work takes place within elderly care, home help services, disability services, and social psychiatry, as well as individual and family care.

Job Responsibilities

As a temporary staff member in Ystad Municipality, you work according to the Social Services Act by supporting our users in their daily lives with tasks such as:

  • Cleaning
  • Personal hygiene
  • Preparing breakfast, serving lunch, and snacks
  • Social interaction, e.g., going for walks, organizing activities, and in some cases walking pets
  • Accompanying to the hairdresser and health center
  • Assisting with medication

A job in elderly care is a varied and developmental job where you meet many interesting people. Your main task is to create good conditions for others to have a good life. You work either in home help services, caring for users in their own homes, or in special housing, where users live in apartments in the same building with shared social areas. Within some home help groups, there is a requirement for a driver's license and the ability to cycle.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, or a mix, as well as every other weekend. Please state in your application if you are interested in a specific working time.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to work as a temporary staff member and are available to work on a schedule during the autumn, with a chance of extension.

Requirements:

  • Since you will have daily contact with care recipients and need to document, you must have good knowledge of Swedish, both written and oral (the requirement is that you are approved in basic Swedish for grade school Year 9 or alternatively SFI D).
  • Within home help services, you need to be able to cycle, and within some groups, a driver's license is required.
  • Work in home help services and special housing may involve solo work, situations involving threats or violence, heavy lifting, and medication handling. According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on the working environment for minors (AFS 2023:2 Chapter 8), such work is not permitted for minors. Therefore, the person employed must have turned 18.
  • You must be able to handle physical work with a lot of movement where heavy lifting may occur.
  • You must work according to basic hygiene routines and in a short-sleeved shirt, and be able to work with both men and women.

Employment Conditions

  • Salary form: Monthly salary
  • Employment type: Fixed-term employment
  • Duration: 3–6 months, start date: 2026-08-31 according to agreement
  • Working hours: Schedule (daytime, evening, or mixed, as well as every other weekend)

Before any potential employment, we will check citizenship. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must be able to present a valid residence/work permit or prove that you are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit.
