Welcome to the Cardiology Department in Malmö!

You will thrive here if you appreciate a workplace with a fast pace and short patient stays. Here, we treat patients with various heart conditions, ranging from observation for suspected heart disease to advanced multi-disease cases. Our patient group is diverse, comprising both young and elderly individuals.

The department consists of 30 beds divided into three medical flows: coronary, heart failure and valve, and arrhythmia. The department includes a coronary angiography and PCI lab handling both acute and elective patients. The unit also performs pacemaker insertions and electrical cardioversion for heart rhythm disorders. Additionally, we have an ultrasound lab and a nurse-led clinic for arrhythmias, pacemakers, and long-term EKG monitoring.

The department collaborates with other units in both Lund and Malmö, such as thoracic surgery and intensive care, as well as other hospitals within and outside the region. All staff categories work closely together with the patient in focus.

Within the cardiac care at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), research is conducted at local, national, and international levels. This means we are at the forefront as a unit where you, as a nurse, are continuously engaged in various research studies, thereby contributing to advancing the development of cardiac care as a whole.

Job Description

We offer you, as a nurse, an stimulating and developing work environment with the goal that all employees feel job satisfaction, pride, and loyalty. The work is varied, and you will alternate between the ward and the coronary angiography lab.

On the cardiology ward, your primary placement will be in one of the medical flows: coronary or heart failure and valve/arrhythmia. This allows you to gain a deeper understanding and competence regarding the patients in that specific flow. Since all three flows are part of the same department, we naturally support each other, and you will work in and gain knowledge across all medical flows.

The team surrounding the patient consists of nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and medical secretaries.

Working in the coronary angiography lab involves varied tasks. Responsibilities include being the primary nurse on the lab, managing pre- and post-operative care during coronary angiography/PCI. It is an advantage if you are technically interested and have an interest in sterile work. There is also an opportunity for further training as an assisting nurse in the coronary angiography unit.

The formal requirements for the position are that you are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. Previous experience in cardiac care is considered an asset for the position.
