The Role of Specialist Trainee Doctor (ST)

Our patients suffer from chronic diseases that affect various aspects of life, requiring a multidisciplinary team working alongside them, consisting of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers. As a Specialist Trainee Doctor (ST), you will primarily work in outpatient care and gain broad experience within the specialty. The role involves investigating, treating, and following up on patients with various types of rheumatic diseases. You will be part of a team-oriented work group and collaborate closely with other professions.

Your Future Workplace

The Rheumatology Clinic at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping has been part of the Department of Medicine since autumn 2016 and is responsible for all rheumatology activities in the Region of Jönköping County. The operations are mainly based in Jönköping, with team activities in Värnamo and Eksjö/Nässjö. Rheumatology is undergoing exciting developments with expanded treatment options using advanced medications. Improved and earlier diagnostics offer significant opportunities for effective treatment today. The department handles all types of inflammatory and rheumatic diseases.

Your Profile

You are a licensed physician starting an ST position with an interest in rheumatology and team-based work. You must master the Swedish language in both speech and writing, at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale. You have an interest in working with quality and improvement projects. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and highly value the ability to collaborate, flexibility, and interest in development. Your ability to plan and work independently is strong, and you can prioritize based on the best interests of the operations.

As a Specialist Trainee Doctor, we offer you broad training in rheumatology, which includes individual supervision and knowledge transfer as a natural part of the work. You will participate and take an active role in the development of our treatment methods and in our quality work.

Service is planned together with supervisors, and parts may be located at a university clinic, but the main placement is in Jönköping. The Region of Jönköping County is responsible for providing courses within all A and B sub-goals according to the ST-ab concept. Supervisor training for both supervisors and ST doctors is included in the course. During ST-ab, conditions are also provided to carry out your own quality and development work.
