to apply for the job
We are looking for residence assistants for the reception and return center in Märsta, where we are now establishing several new operations, including applications, asylum assessment, and reception in addition to the return operations currently in place. The establishment of the center is part of the national reform of asylum reception and the introduction of the EU's Migration and Asylum Pact.
Description of the center
The center is a new type of workplace. You work with issues that concern and engage you in a dynamic environment characterized by interaction with people and influenced by what is happening in our surroundings. It is also an environment characterized by continuous learning and participation, where co-location gives us better prerequisites for working closely together across professions in the asylum process. We are also close to the asylum seeker by working where the asylum seeker lives. This allows us to work more efficiently and make things safer for the asylum seeker.
It is an international environment, both because it is close to Arlanda Airport where most arrive to and leave Sweden, but also because the authority will next year become more integrated into a joint European asylum reception and EU authorities such as Frontex and EUAA. When you work at the center, you become part of the journey towards a new and reformed asylum reception. Since the operations are under development, there are many opportunities for development. You are expected to be open to the fact that your skills and commitment are needed for various tasks performed at the center, where service and guidance are recurring elements.

What does a residence assistant do in a center operation?
As a residence assistant, you introduce people to the housing and the local community. You provide support, service, and information to people in the housing and external stakeholders. As a residence assistant, you handle situations that arise in the housing and identify and manage special needs that individuals may have. You also participate in coordinating activities for asylum seekers. In your role, you meet people in a situation of uncertainty and change, which places demands on your ability to communicate and interact with individuals in an empathetic and clear manner. Teamwork within your work group is of utmost importance to professionally meet individual needs and create security in the housing.
The work includes managing service and logistics around the housing as well as planning so that housing spaces are used efficiently and appropriately. You handle documentation and administration regarding the housing and perform transport between housing and office premises. You inspect the Swedish Migration Agency's asylum housing, equip rooms and apartments so that they meet the correct standard, and report defects to the landlord/supplier.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have good collaboration skills, are sensitive, and resolve conflicts in a constructive way. You are service-oriented and accommodating in your interaction with both colleagues, applicants, and other stakeholders.
Since the operations are fluid, you need to be secure and stable even under stress or pressured situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on the right things. You take initiative, enjoy variety, and adapt easily to changing circumstances by adjusting your viewpoint and approach.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
