Here at Halmstad Direkt, you will find the municipality's contact center, as well as the municipal guardianship unit, consumer advice, and budget and debt counseling.

Do you want to make a difference in society by supporting people who, due to illness, mental health issues, or other circumstances, cannot manage their own finances and rights? As a professional guardian, you play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals receive the help they need.

You will be part of the municipal guardianship unit, and the workplace is located in central Halmstad, where you will find a pleasant open-plan office with workspaces well-adapted to our tasks.

Your Responsibilities

As a professional guardian, you work for the individuals (warded persons) you are assigned to in the following areas: Protecting rights, managing property, and caring for the person.

This means ensuring that your warded persons' needs are met by various authorities, managing their finances from paying bills and budgeting to entering into financial agreements.

You are also responsible for safeguarding your warded persons' interests in legal matters, such as inheritance divisions or property sales.

A key part of your job is building good and trusting relationships with your warded persons. Being a guardian can restrict an individual's right to make certain daily decisions, so it is vital that you have their trust.

Your Qualifications

Given the nature of the work, we place great emphasis on personal suitability, but there are also specific requirements that must be met.

We are looking for someone who easily creates and maintains trusting relationships through respectful treatment. You are empathetic and adaptable, and can set boundaries when the work requires it. You are resilient, patient, and remain calm even in pressured situations. You work in a structured manner and are accustomed to making well-founded decisions. You have good teamwork skills and enjoy working in a team, but can easily adapt to work independently when the operation requires it.

To be considered for the position, you must also have:

- A university/college degree in fields such as behavioral sciences or social work, or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer

- Experience working in psychiatry, addiction services, or other experience we deem relevant

- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

- Good IT skills

- A valid driver's license (Category B)

Since the role involves budgeting and reporting, you need an interest in and understanding of economics, as well as familiarity with digital tools.

Knowledge of or experience in financial management is desirable. Knowledge of authorities and administrative decisions is a merit.

Additional Information

The suitability of a professional guardian must be assessed before assignments can be made. Before employment, the employer will conduct a security check on final candidates, which includes, among other things, the police's criminal record register, the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden), and social services.

Before employment, you must prove that you have the right to work, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland via passport, national ID card, or personal certificate along with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you must present a work permit or prove that you are exempt from the requirement for a work permit.

The position is subject to the condition that it is not taken by surplus personnel.
