Job Responsibilities

We believe that together is the key; we take joint responsibility for the students' learning and development.

We are looking for a school counselor for Apelskolan F-9 in Ullared. As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team. You work closely with students, guardians, and school staff. You contribute psychosocial competence in both preventive and remedial interventions. The work includes among other things:

• Contribute with psychosocial competence in the pedagogical work and in the overall planning of the student health service's work.
• Contribute knowledge about protective and risk factors for students' learning, development, and health in collaboration with students, guardians, and other staff.
• Provide guidance and consultation to pedagogical staff.
• Map and analyze the needs of students and the school, propose and implement health-promoting and preventive measures, and evaluate and develop these.
• Carry out conversations with individual students and their guardians related to the school situation, for example support, motivation, and crisis conversations, as well as investigative and advisory conversations, and contribute knowledge about society's support systems.
• On the principal's assignment, investigate and assess the social and psychosocial situation for individual students, including before decisions on special support and the creation of action plans, as well as before decisions on admission to adapted basic or upper secondary school.
• Participate in the organization of the school's work with values and equal treatment.
• Take advantage of knowledge and students' psychosocial health in the student health service's work.
• Contact with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), police, and others.

You will become part of an engaged student health team consisting of a school nurse, special educator, school psychologist, and principal. We value collegial learning, and together with other counselors in the municipality, you will have regular network meetings.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• A degree in Social Work (Socionom).
• Good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act.
• The ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing.
• Good digital competence.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working as a school counselor or with children/young people in other operations.
• Previous work experience within social services or experience in preventive and promoting work.
• Education in conversation methodology or supervision.

As a person, you are secure, empathetic, and unpretentious. You are engaged in the psychosocial situation of children and young people and have an easy time creating trusting relationships.

You are professional and respectful in the meeting with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have the ability to work independently but also in close collaboration with others. As a person, you have a solution-focused approach while being structured, proactive, and having good decision-making skills. You enjoy working in a pedagogical environment and in teams with different professions.
