The Preschool and Primary School Administration is one of Varberg Municipality's largest administrations with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of operation – preschool, primary school, and child and student health services – we are here for children and students. Together, we shape the future.

Deromeskolan is a smaller school with approximately 120 students located in the community of Derome, 15 km north of Varberg. The school has an after-school center (fritidshem) integrated into the school premises.

At the after-school center, students are divided into groups by age. At Deromeskolan, students attend grades F-3, and when they start grade 4, they move to Vidhögeskolan in Veddige.

At Deromeskolan, the activities are designed so that students have real influence on working methods, forms of work, and the content of teaching. Deromeskolan works actively for an inclusive school and also works actively against bullying, harassment, degrading treatment, and for a good working environment.

Outdoor life is central at Deromeskolan, especially for the younger age groups. In the fantastic outdoor environment surrounding the school, outdoor activities are conducted year-round.

Responsibilities

As a childcare worker at the after-school center, you are an important part of the team and contribute to creating a safe and educational environment for our students. You work to create the best possible opportunities for learning by supporting students in their social interactions and in the activities offered at the after-school center. Together with preschool teachers, you help realize the goals of the curriculum.

Examples of tasks:

• Actively participate in the planning and implementation of activities at the after-school center.
• Be a present and supportive adult in students' free play and planned activities.
• Collaborate with the school during students' school day, e.g., during breaks or lesson periods.
• Contribute to good order and a safe learning environment for all students.
• Maintain good and close contact with guardians during drop-off and pick-up.

Qualifications

We are looking for a responsible colleague who is a secure adult figure. You move naturally between supporting free play and leading planned activities. For you, it is natural to contribute to a positive work climate where we help each other solve everyday challenges and together create a safe environment for the students.

You possess a didactic sensitivity in how you guide students in social interactions and conflict management. With a solution-oriented focus, you contribute to making the after-school center a place where all children feel seen and included.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a high school education, specifically the Child and Youth Program (Barn- och fritidsprogrammet), or equivalent as assessed by the employer.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience with children in need of special support.

Employment terms

• Salary: Monthly salary.
