The Baltic Sea Centre at Stockholm University (SU, BSC) is the hub for Baltic Sea research at Stockholm University. We support and develop the university's marine education and research by providing infrastructure such as field stations and vessels. Research is conducted both within the Baltic Sea Centre and in collaboration with other departments at SU. The Centre focuses on the largest environmental problems facing the Baltic Sea and contributes, through an interdisciplinary approach, knowledge to authorities and other actors for better environmental management.

Project Description
The Baltic Sea Centre at Stockholm University (SU, BSC) is seeking a researcher with authority experience who, for approximately six months, will be responsible for administrative tasks related to the launch of a major research and restoration project in the Stockholm archipelago, as well as providing scientific support to the project. The project is carried out by the BSC in collaboration with the County Administrative Board of Stockholm, with funding from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.
The project aims to test and evaluate the effect of measures to reduce internal phosphorus load in the Stockholm archipelago. The project has three parts: i) Oxygenation of bottom environments as a complement to aluminium treatment, ii) Evaluation of aluminium treatment in coastal environments, and iii) Factors influencing the re-establishment of vegetation on shallow soft bottoms.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
- Supporting the scientific work in all parts of the project.
- Obtaining the necessary permits to carry out planned oxygenation, managing contacts with authorities and those with jurisdiction over the bay where oxygenation is planned, and managing the application process with support from the responsible researchers.
- Responsible for the administration of procurement/purchasing of necessary materials and services for the implementation of oxygenation, with support from responsible researchers and administrative staff at the BSC.
- Responsible for the administration of procurement/purchasing of materials and transport for the implementation of sub-study 3, with support from responsible researchers and administrative staff at the BSC.
- Responsible for the administration of procurement/purchasing of environmental consulting services for bays to be monitored and evaluated, with support from responsible researchers and administrative staff at the BSC.
- Assist in the project's data management and perform simpler data analyses.
- Assist in fieldwork, including vegetation surveys.
- Documentation of workflows.
- Participation and reporting at the project's planning meetings.
Qualifications
A researcher is primarily employed for research and must have a PhD or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD.
Selection Criteria
In the appointment, special weight will be placed on scientific proficiency and the following;
Requirements
- You have a PhD in ecology.
- You have experience working at a County Administrative Board and/or the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.
- You have experience in project management and investigative assignments.
- You have experience in procuring environmental consulting services or similar.
- You have experience in, for example, reporting water activities, 12:6 consultations, applying for shoreline protection dispensations, or similar.
- You possess good ability to communicate both orally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
- You are proficient in QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
- Field experience and knowledge of aquatic plants, including species identification.
- You have a driver's license.
- As a person, you are self-motivated and proactive, have a structured work approach, and have a positive and solution-oriented attitude.

About the Position
The employment is a part-time position of 50–75 % for six months, with a possibility of extension up to one year. Start date September 1, 2026, or as agreed.
