Do you want to work in a city where ideas quickly become reality and where you see the results of your work? In Sundbyberg, people, decisions, and opportunities are close at hand. Here, you get to make a real impact while developing and growing in your role.

We are now looking for an Environmental Case Officer specializing in environmental protection supervision for the Environmental and Health Protection Unit.

Here at the Environmental and Health Protection Unit, you will contribute to promoting good health and a healthy environment for both current and future residents of Sundbyberg.

The Environmental and Health Protection Unit belongs to the Building Permits and Environmental Supervision Department. The unit consists of a unit manager and 10 other inspectors.

As an Environmental Case Officer, your primary responsibility will be environmental protection supervision according to the Environmental Code. The work is varied and includes both office work and inspections at various businesses. You will have the opportunity to largely plan your own time independently while working closely with your colleagues to ensure consistent supervision.

Your duties include planning and conducting supervisory visits to environmentally hazardous operations, drafting letters, and preparing official reports. You will process cases regarding permits, exemptions, and notifications according to environmental legislation, as well as write reference statements.

The position is under development and will be shaped based on the needs of the operations, taking into account the new employee's experience, prerequisites, and personal strengths. We would like you to have your own areas of expertise that you wish to develop and share with colleagues – this could be environmental monitoring, soil contamination, or another area where you have a particular interest. Depending on your profile and interest, the role can also be broadened with elements of administrative, coordinating, or system administrative tasks.

We require that you have a university degree focused on environmental and health protection or equivalent, which includes environmental legislation at the university level, as well as good knowledge of the practical application of legislation within the Environmental Code and the Administrative Procedure Act.

It is important that you:

  • enjoy meeting people and thrive on handling several different tasks during a workday.
  • feel secure in your role as a public authority official and have the ability to make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and make decisions.
  • are flexible, enjoy collaborating, and take personal responsibility for ensuring that your own and the group's tasks are completed.
  • are clear in your communication and can express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish.

We place great importance on your personal qualities, commitment, drive, and how you complement the rest of the team.

The position is a permanent full-time employment. Start date by agreement. Selection and invitations to interviews may take place continuously during the advertising period. Probationary employment may be applied.

Apply by August 23, 2026. We do not accept applications via email.
