About Ystad Gymnasium
The Education Administration is responsible for preschools, primary schools, after-school centers, upper secondary schools, adult education, as well as child and student health services. Approximately 1,100 employees work here, together creating a safe and developmental school and childcare environment.
The municipal upper secondary school, Ystad Gymnasium, has around 1,700 students and 300 staff members, consisting of two units: Park and Österport. The units cover different areas, and together we offer most national upper secondary programs, introductory programs, and a large number of adapted upper secondary school programs. The school's vision is that all students should reach their full potential, and we uphold high quality and participation where every individual, in a permissive culture, develops knowledge, skills, and democratic values.
Ystad Gymnasium Area 2 consists of the Arts, Natural Science, and Technology programs. We are now looking for a teacher for the fourth year of technology, which is a vocational upper secondary education that graduates as a Bachelor of Engineering (Gymnasieingenjör). Within the framework of the fourth year of technology, we accept 10 students, and the school collaborates with about fifteen local companies in the technology and industry sectors. We offer two different profiles: Design and Product Development, and Production Technology.
Responsibilities
The position includes teaching in the subject Industrial Automation Technology and, in addition, all or parts of the following subjects:
- Production Philosophy Level 1 (Entire or part of the subject)
- Applied Technology Level 1 (Entire or part of the subject)
- The Bachelor of Engineering in Practice (Possibly part of the subject)
Depending on your qualifications, we will build a 40% position together based on the subjects mentioned above. The position is a fixed-term employment for one academic year.
The role involves communicating goals and development with students and staff, as well as documenting, following up, and evaluating your work. The position in the fourth year of technology presupposes collaboration with colleagues, as the education is permeated by project-based work based on CDIO, as well as collaboration with the industry through APL (Workplace-based learning). We also actively engage in field assignments and study visits, and carry out other social activities together with our students, which you are expected to participate in.
At the school, we place student learning at the center and actively work to develop teaching within the framework of our systematic quality work. We have high expectations of both students and staff and believe in their ability to develop. Teaching is characterized by diversity, participation, and influence, as well as a critical approach, where formative assessment and digital work are important tools for learning. Staff learn together and engage in active collegial learning.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with competence in the aforementioned subject areas. A background in the technology or industry sector is meritorious, as is having a teaching license. We also place great emphasis on your personal ability to motivate and engage students in achieving good results through clear leadership. We also look for the following qualifications:
- You are accustomed to working both independently and in collaboration with others.
- You have an easy time building relationships and have a professional approach.
- You strive to create a positive learning environment to drive the work with students forward together with the school's staff.
- You express yourself well both orally and in writing.
- You are accustomed to working with digital tools.
What We Offer
- Salary: Monthly salary.
- Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
- Duration: 6 months or longer.
- Start Date: 2026-08-10.
- Working Hours: Daytime. Working hours are arranged according to agreement between the employee and the nearest manager.
