Job Description

As a Senior Windows Server Technician, you will become part of a cohesive operations team responsible for the operation, maintenance, and further development of the organization's Windows server environments and related components. The team manages a large-scale environment with approximately 2,000 virtual servers, which places high demands on your technical expertise and ability to act proactively.

The work spans the entire chain – from hardware resources and virtualization to networking, operating systems, and application operations. The role involves significant hands-on work directly in the environments, including advanced troubleshooting, incident management, and architecture-related issues. You are also expected to drive automation and efficiency efforts using PowerShell, as well as communicate technical solutions in a pedagogical manner to various audiences.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operation, installation, and maintenance of virtual servers, including surrounding infrastructure (networking, virtual environment, and hardware resources).
• Respond to alerts, perform advanced troubleshooting, and manage incidents on the Windows Server platform.
• Operate and install applications up to functionality in close collaboration with various application owners.
• Work with certificate management, including creating, renewing, and troubleshooting certificates.
• Configure, set up, and troubleshoot federation solutions using ADFS.
• Drive and develop automation and process efficiency efforts using PowerShell.

Required Qualifications

• At least eight (8) years of professional experience in deep troubleshooting of both operating systems and communication issues directly in Windows Server environments (version 2019 or later). The experience must involve hands-on technical work within the environment, not just high-level system administration.
• At least eight (8) years of professional experience with Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, DNS, and Windows firewall management.
• At least seven (7) years of practical experience in scripting and automation using PowerShell.
• Documented professional experience in communicating technology in a pedagogical manner to audiences with varying levels of technical competence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience from a large government agency or organization with a very large workforce (e.g., 10,000+ employees) and complex security requirements.
