Job Description

In the role of Senior Windows Server Technician, you will become part of a cohesive operations team responsible for the operation, maintenance, and further development of the organization's Windows server environments and related components. The team manages a large-scale, virtualized environment with approximately 2,000 virtual servers, which places high demands on your technical expertise and ability to act proactively.

The work spans the entire chain – from hardware resources and virtualization to networking, operating systems, client/server management, and application operations. The role involves significant hands-on work directly in the environments with advanced troubleshooting, incident management, and architecture-related issues. You are also expected to drive automation work using PowerShell as well as package and deploy applications in the environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operation, installation, and maintenance of virtual servers, including surrounding infrastructure (network, virtual environment, and hardware resources).
• Respond to alarms, perform advanced troubleshooting, and manage incidents on the Windows server platform.
• Operate and install applications up to functionality in close collaboration with various application owners.
• Work with client and system administration, as well as packaging and deploying applications in the server and client environment.
• Work with certificate management, including creating, renewing, and troubleshooting certificates.
• Configure, set up, and troubleshoot federation solutions using ADFS.
• Drive and develop automation and process efficiency work using PowerShell.

Required Qualifications

• At least eight (8) years of professional experience in in-depth troubleshooting of both operating systems and communication issues directly in Windows server environments (version 2019 or later). The experience should involve technical work directly in the environment, not just overarching system administration.
• At least eight (8) years of professional experience with Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, DNS, and Windows firewall management.
• At least seven (7) years of practical experience in scripting and automation in PowerShell.
• At least five (5) years of experience working with virtualization in VMware.
• Documented professional experience administering MS Endpoint Manager (Intune) as well as packaging and deploying applications.
• Documented ability to communicate technology in a pedagogical manner to audiences with varying technical competence.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least eight (8) years of experience in system management via SCCM (MECM).
• Several years of professional experience from a large government agency or organization with a very large workforce (e.g., 10,000+ employees) and complex security requirements.
