Job Description
We are looking for someone who wants to join our team at the Language and Competence Centre for study support. As a study support assistant, you will support students in their language and knowledge development using their mother tongue, acting as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You will do this, among other things, through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching teachers at the primary schools.
Study support can take place before, during, and after lessons, depending on the student's and subject's needs. This means you will work both in the classroom and individually with students in consultation with subject teachers. You will also work with students of different ages. The position is located at a Year 1–6 school (F-6).
The role involves collaboration with students, guardians, and school staff.
Qualifications
We prefer that you have post-secondary education, preferably pedagogical, and experience in study support. Skills such as teamwork and flexibility are important in this role, as your work involves close collaboration with others.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has very good knowledge of the study support language, both spoken and written.
- Has at least a passing grade in Swedish or Swedish as a Second Language 2 at the upper secondary level.
- Has good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system.
- Is accustomed to taking significant personal responsibility and working independently.
The position will be filled subject to necessary decisions being made. The position is a 50% temporary substitute role.
Employment Terms
Type of employment: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 3–6 months.
Start date: 2026-09-01 or by agreement.
End date: 2026-12-31.
About the Workplace
The Language and Competence Centre is responsible for receiving newly arrived students, mother tongue instruction, and study support in Växjö Municipality. The unit also has a competence mandate regarding reception, mapping, and study support.
The Language and Competence Centre (SKC) is part of the Education Administration's Resource Centre, which also includes the central Child and Student Health Service and the Municipal School of Music and Arts. SKC is led by a unit manager and two deputy unit managers.
