The Faculty of Technology has a broad operation spanning eight different departments through which Linnaeus University provides education and conducts research. The engineering programs range from short courses lasting a few weeks or months to five-year Master of Science in Engineering programs. The research responds to societal needs in several broad fields – both short-term and long-term – through basic and applied research in collaboration with societal actors.
The Department of Civil Engineering, as part of the Faculty of Technology, has extensive collaborations with corporate partners in both research and education. The department works together with adjacent departments to create a creative environment with challenging education and outstanding research. Research in civil engineering covers timber construction technology, steel, concrete, hybrid and composite structural technology, building physics, building materials, structural health monitoring, and life cycle assessment. The department currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering program in civil engineering, a Bachelor's program in building design, a two-year Master's program in sustainable construction technology, and a Master of Science in Engineering program in civil engineering.

Job Description:
The position includes teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels, course development, and student supervision. The Department of Civil Engineering has a particular need for teaching competence in basic civil engineering, construction production, foundations, CAD and BIM, as well as sustainable and resource-efficient building. The role also includes some administrative work. The position offers opportunities to participate in research. Education and research are conducted in collaboration with industry, research institutes, as well as state and municipal authorities. This requires that you actively build networks and follow developments within the industry and societal development that is relevant to teaching at the university.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer at Linnaeus University, one must have completed a Master's degree or a Master of Science in Engineering in civil engineering or have equivalent competence, and demonstrated pedagogical skill.
Equivalent competence generally refers to a degree from a foreign university with essentially the same level and quality as a Swedish Master's degree in civil engineering.
For eligibility for this position, proficiency in communicating orally and in writing in Swedish and English is also required.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria for the employment of a University Lecturer shall be the degree of skill required for eligibility for the position. The assessment of pedagogical skill should be given equal care as the assessment of subject-specific competence, including scientific skill.
Particularly meritorious is documented professional competence through industrial experience from the construction sector or related sectors.
It is meritorious if the applicant has completed higher education pedagogy training.
To fit the role, you have good teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, are structured, and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
