About the Position

Säter Cultural School, located in beautiful Dalarna, is a small cultural school (music, dance, and theater) integrated with the comprehensive school (grades 1–9) as well as the adapted comprehensive school. The educators often have combined positions in both the Cultural School and the comprehensive school (music subject). Teaching takes place partly at the Cultural School in Säter and partly during school hours at the comprehensive schools in the municipality.

In Säter, we have a tradition of brass music spanning nearly 100 years, a tradition we are proud of and wish to both preserve and refine.

The Cultural School has a working method where you, as staff, are involved in decision-making processes regarding operational development and organizational issues, which places high demands on commitment, responsibility, and participation. Since you will be working at several schools, it is required that you have good social competence and are an organized person with a clear structure in your work who enjoys collaborating with colleagues. Your teaching is characterized by good leadership and a working method based on research and proven experience, and you continuously develop your methods and approaches.

Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a music teacher for brass/woodwind instruments. You will work with teaching, concerts, and activities in a cultural school where we work closely together in the work team.

You teach through individual lessons and group instruction, and lead ensemble and orchestra activities. In Säter, we have an "orchestra ladder" ranging from the youngest students to Säterblåset, our adult orchestra, which also includes students and educators. Your role involves planning, implementing, and following up on teaching, as well as participating in concerts, rehearsals, and other activities.

Teaching takes place both at the cultural school and at schools throughout the municipality. The work involves collaboration with colleagues within the cultural school, the comprehensive school, and regionally. You participate in meetings such as APT (Annual Performance Review) and work teams that develop the operations. You also have contact with students, guardians, and other partners and serve as a representative for the operations. The work also includes collaborating with neighboring municipalities, which provides both students and educators with larger contexts for development.

The work also involves moving between different schools in the municipality, which requires a B-driver's license and access to a personal car. You are an important representative and ambassador for the cultural school. Work during evenings and weekends occurs.

Qualifications

• You have a university-level education in music and pedagogy, or equivalent competence or experience.
• You master several brass instruments.
• You have experience and knowledge in orchestra/ensemble conducting.
• You have good IT skills.
• You have a B-driver's license and a personal car.
• You have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
• You have the ability to teach in different genres.
• You have the ability to work with other people; to listen, show empathy, and respect. You are unpretentious and recognize and reward others' contributions.
• You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in different contexts and roles.
• You have the ability to plan and organize your work. You are good at setting goals, organizing resources, following up, and concluding activities.

Employment Terms

Part-time

Fixed-term employment 50–60% for the period 2026-08-10 to 2026-12-18, with the possibility of permanent employment from January 2027.

Start date: 2026-08-10 or according to agreement with the employer.
