Job Description

At AFRY Hydro Nordics, we face an exciting future as one of the world's largest consulting firms within hydropower. In Sweden, we are currently 120 consultants who together drive development within hydropower – from dams and dam safety to geotechnics, hydromechanics, hydraulics, power stations, and environmental design.

We are now looking for more colleagues with a background in generators who want to drive socially important hydropower projects at the forefront of technology together with us. We are looking for both you with a focus on mechanics and you with a focus on electrical calculations.

In the role with a focus on electrical calculations, you will work on electrically dimensioning generators, including cooling, in connection with pre-studies and the preparation of tender documents. This may include new installation and/or upgrading of generators. It also involves working with RfG (Requirements for Generators) cases when connecting modified production units to the grid (case management, simulation).

In the role with a focus on mechanics, you will instead focus on pre-studies, tender documents (technical specifications), and issues regarding rotor dynamics and vibration, construction of mechanical systems, and control technology, etc.

Regardless of focus, you will follow projects from initial stages, such as status assessments and preparation of pre-study reports, to participating in the implementation on-site in a control function role. If interested, there is also the opportunity for project leadership responsibility for both national and international resources, as well as the possibility of greater responsibility within our specialist group where you influence our continued development of Power Stations.

We are today an engaged team consisting of 24 project managers, specialists, and designers within electrical control, automation, and turbine technology. We collaborate broadly across the country within Hydro and within AFRY, as well as through international collaborations. The work usually takes place from the office or home office, and travel and site visits to the facilities occur as a natural part of the role.

Qualifications

To succeed and thrive in the role, we see that you enjoy problem-solving and have a good ability to create structure among parallel tasks and projects. You work independently, proactively, and are eager to take own initiatives to move forward efficiently. Since we work in a customer-focused business, it is important that you are receptive and clear in your communication and have an easy time building trusting collaborative relationships both internally and externally.

Furthermore, we see that you have previous experience working with generators where you have worked on requirement setting in renewal or reinvestment projects. You can express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Having a university degree in engineering is a merit.

For the role with a focus on mechanics, it is also a merit if you have:

• Experience with rotor dynamics and vibration
• Knowledge of materials and strength (e.g., thermal expansion and fatigue)
• Knowledge of machine elements and tribology (bearings, seals & shafts, etc.).
• Performed FAT and SAT for the mechanical generator components according to ITPs.

For the role with a focus on electrical calculations, we see it as a merit if you have:

• Experience with electrical dimensioning of generators, including cooling
• Work with RfG cases when connecting modified production units to the grid
• Performed FAT and SAT for the electrical generator components according to ITPs.
