About the Role

We are currently looking for a GIS Coordinator (1 position).

Responsibilities

The role of GIS Coordinator involves managing geographic data in databases as well as developing creative solutions to problems using GIS. System administration is part of the job. You will work broadly across the municipality's various operations by providing support, guidance, and training in the handling of geographic information. You will also be responsible for inputting and updating various map layers.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Managing and administering geographic data as well as internal and external map services.
  • Training staff in GIS.
  • Delivering analyses, situational maps, and decision-support materials.
  • Having primary responsibility towards the Swedish Land Survey (Lantmäteriet) regarding our Geodata Cooperation Agreement and BAL Cooperation Agreement.

The position is located within the Strategic Urban Planning Department, where we currently have 12 employees. The department includes land development and strategic urban planners. We share office space with the Planning and Building Department, bringing the total to approximately 35 people on site.

Qualifications

  • University or college education in GIS, Geography, Land Surveying, Cartography and Geodesy, Urban Planning, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience in municipal mapping and GIS operations is highly valued.
  • Strong commitment and ability to drive and contribute to various projects and assignments.
  • Ability to take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. You structure your approach and drive work forward.
  • Experience working with complex issues, breaking down, and solving complicated problems.
  • Service-oriented with good communication skills and the ability to explain technical aspects clearly and simply.
  • Good teamwork skills and a willingness to help others.
  • Good proficiency in written and spoken Swedish.

Employment Terms

Permanent position. Start date: October 1, 2026, or as agreed.

The position is vacant subject to no surplus staff, need for reassignment, or priority rights within the municipality. Probationary employment may apply.

This position is classified for security reasons, and a security clearance will be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Swedish citizenship and a passed security clearance are required for employment.
