Project Description
PhD Subject: Computer Science
The main objective is to prove the concept of modality, multiple vehicles, localization, and change detection in the context of cooperating autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). This involves the autonomous detection of changes on the seabed, where multiple autonomous vehicles map the area and build a detailed 3D model using multimodal sensing over time.
This project will work closely with other students at the Swedish Maritime Robotics Centre (SMaRC). The work will include multi-agent navigation in GPS-denied environments, cooperative perception, and machine learning. Experiments will be conducted on autonomous underwater vehicles and sonar sensors provided by SMaRC and the Marine Robotics Laboratory (MRL).
Supervision: John Folkesson is proposed as the supervisor for the doctoral student. The final decision will be made upon admission.
