I have Dravet syndrome, which is a difficult-to-treat epilepsy. Unfortunately, I am extremely susceptible to infections, so even a common cold can make me very ill.

I enjoy being at home the most, together with my family and dogs, which will be your workplace. I have an interest in playing music, watching my iPad, painting pictures, and watching DVD movies. There is also a great interest in shopping.

As a personal assistant, you will help with everything that may arise in daily life, such as dressing and personal care.

You will act as an extension of my arms and legs. I sit in a wheelchair and need help with transfers, so you as an assistant need to be in good physical shape.

The role includes tube feeding, feeding, and some medication management. You will stimulate activity and, if necessary, brake activity, as I have a low threshold for seizures and lack impulse control. I understand everything that is said but have difficulty expressing myself in conventional speech. I use my own words and expressions mixed with "normal" words, so you need to help and support in conveying my wishes.

Requirements for the position:

• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
• Good and strong physical condition.

Merits:

• Nursing education or similar previous work experience is an advantage but not a requirement. During the induction period, you will learn the medical parts required, such as tube feeding, medication management, and blood sugar control.

Personal suitability weighs the heaviest, however.

Working hours and extent of employment:

Sunday daytime hours, 08:00–16:00. There is some flexibility regarding time and the number of Sundays per month, and a weekday may sometimes be offered instead.

We perform background checks. You will need to provide extracts from the criminal record and suspicion registers upon employment, and we verify the authenticity of these extracts.
