Do you want to work with children and young people with disabilities? Then Kompassens Short-Term Care is the place for you!

Kompassen is located in central Vara in premises adapted for the operations. You and your colleagues work on planning and providing support and assistance based on the needs and wishes of the children and young people. The unit provides short-term stays and short-term supervision, and we receive children and young people between the ages of 0–21. The operations run 24/7, year-round.

Your Role

As a support assistant, you will, together with your colleagues, among other things:

  • Support and help the individual in their daily life based on decisions and implementation plans.
  • Work on the individual's development based on their abilities.
  • Work to ensure that the participation and independence of children and young people in daily life and leisure time are valued.
  • Plan and carry out activities and excursions.

Collaboration with guardians, schools, and habilitation services is part of the work.

Documentation is part of the position, meaning you need to have good computer skills and documentation knowledge, as well as the ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends. Night on-call duty may occur on occasional occasions.

Your Knowledge and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Education from the Child and Youth Program, Youth Leader Line, or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
  • Work experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Experience and knowledge of low-affective interaction and clarifying pedagogy.

As a person, you are calm, secure, and stress-resistant. You are flexible while being able to plan the activities and tasks of work shifts. You are responsible and can work both independently and in a group. You have your own drive and are actively involved in developing the operations forward.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability, interaction, and attitude.

It is meritorious if you:

  • Previously have had additional responsibilities at a workplace, such as documentation responsibility, IBIC representative, or similar.
  • Can use sign language as support in communication.
  • Can play an instrument.
  • Enjoy creativity and creation.

Other Requirements

Mobile BankID and a driver's license are required for the position.

You must be able to show an extract from the Police's criminal record register. Type of extract: Extract for work with children with disabilities.

You must also be able to show a passport or valid ID card. A driver's license can be shown together with a personal certificate obtained from the Swedish Tax Agency using BankID. This can be done at a scheduled interview.

Your Future Workplace

Kompassens Short-Term Care is aimed at children and young people with short-term stays outside their own home and short-term supervision for school-aged children over 12 years according to the Law on Support and Service for Certain Disability Groups (LSS).

Short-term stay is intended to give the individual an opportunity for recreation and change of environment or to give relatives a chance for respite. Short-term supervision for school-aged children over 12 is aimed at young people who need supervision before and after school days and during school holidays.

At the short-term care, we work with good and clear communication and a positive interaction. The goal is to create calm and security, regardless of the situation, and to give our children and young people the opportunity to live like others.

The work at the short-term care is varied, fun, and developmental.

The selection process begins during week 30, and interviews are planned to be conducted during week 32. If you have questions about salary, contact the recruiting manager.
