Job Description

We are currently recruiting a support assistant for a permanent position and a support assistant for a fixed-term contract until 2026-12-31 with a possibility of extension at Åkerviolens residential home for people with special needs (BmSS).

Åkerviolens is a residential home with six tenants, catering to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.

Our tenants have varying and sometimes extensive care needs. In our daily work, we use methods such as low-affective interaction, clarifying pedagogy, sign support, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).

As a support assistant, you will support tenants based on individual needs to ensure a good and independent life. The starting point is that tenants should be involved and able to influence decisions and interventions according to their abilities. You will be a support in everyday life, ranging from communication, leisure activities, and household chores to medication management according to delegation. The work also involves collaboration with guardians, social workers, and relatives.

The role includes creating and following implementation plans based on the tenants' needs, as well as motivating tenants in their daily lives. This may involve encouraging contacts outside the home and creating conditions for a fulfilling leisure time. As a support assistant, you also contribute to creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere where there is room for joy and a pleasant mood, making everyday life more meaningful for the tenants.

All social documentation is done in Treserva. Digital tools are used by both staff and tenants, so we are looking for someone who is curious and willing to think new thoughts.

The operation is a 24/7 service based on the tenants' needs. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, sleeping on-call, and weekends. We use Time Care Planning for operation-adapted and influenceable schedules.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for you who have a degree from the Care and Nursing program, the Support Assistant program, or the Child and Youth program with a focus on social and pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a specialization in the disability area comprising at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The courses should be within behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) nursing or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
  • You need to have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1.
  • It is a requirement that you have experience working with threats, violence, and challenging behavior.

Meritorious:

  • We consider it meritorious if you have experience with the target group of intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • We are looking for someone who is flexible and calm, can adapt quickly to changes, is positive and stress-resistant, and maintains a good calm even in challenging situations. We also see that you have an open and positive attitude, using the user's needs as the starting point for your actions, and showing respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role.
  • We would appreciate if you have knowledge and experience in the following methods: LAB (low-affective interaction), AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), Clarifying Pedagogy, Sign Support, and IBIC (Individual Needs in Focus), study three, and training in the Durewall method.
