Social Worker – Focus on Domestic Violence

Welcome to Alingsås! As an employee in our municipality, you have every opportunity to contribute to the development of our operations and workplace. With nearly 4,000 employees, we are large enough to drive change and small enough for everyone to have an impact and room for their ideas. This is a place for innovators. Together, we create Alingsås!

About the Adult Unit

The Adult Unit is responsible for authority decisions for individuals aged 18 and over who have harmful substance use, addiction, co-occurring disorders, as well as those with social psychiatric issues and those seeking support related to domestic violence. Recently, we have also taken responsibility for authority decisions regarding housing assistance.

The Adult Unit is divided into an investigation group and an intake group. The unit has many experienced social secretaries and a present, supportive management. Methodological support takes place weekly in groups, and you will receive case guidance from one of our two senior social secretaries tailored to your needs. We also have external process guidance. We strive to be a leading social services department, and we view collaboration with our service providers as a valuable foundation for our work, which is reflected in our structured development efforts.

Your New Role

As some of our employees have moved on to other internal positions, we are now looking for a new social worker colleague to join us as a social secretary in the intake unit, with a focus on domestic violence.

Here, you will be part of an engaged and cohesive team where well-being and care for each other are highly prioritized. You will work in a team-based and cross-functional manner, collaborating with colleagues both within the Social Services Administration and other parts of the municipality. Everyone is located geographically close to one another, which facilitates cooperation and provides you with a meaningful and enjoyable workday.

What We Offer

When you start with us, we offer you among other things:

  • Secure employment with experienced management
  • Training in MI (Motivational Interviewing) and ASI
  • Mentorship
  • Excellent opportunities for development, contribution, and pride in your work
  • Extra vacation days when you turn 40 and 50
  • Parental benefit supplements
  • Wellness allowance and favorable discounts via E-passi
  • Bike benefit
  • Access to work bicycles

Work Environment

We work in an old candy factory with a rooftop terrace where we can enjoy a lovely coffee in the sun from time to time. We have a lively coffee break tradition where homemade baked goods are often served. The office is centrally located, within walking and cycling distance to many meetings, the central station, and a vibrant city center offering restaurants, cafes, and shopping. The workplace is located in close proximity to Nolhaga Park, which offers beautiful nature for lunch walks. There are also jogging tracks and an outdoor gym, and we have access to showers. A large gym chain is located in the same building as our office and offers a preferential price. For those who drive, we offer free parking.

Your Direct Manager

"Hi! My name is Jenny and I am the manager of the Adult Unit in the Social Services Administration. I am driven by the high quality of work in the unit and for the people we serve. We should have a safe work environment with a reasonable workload where we enjoy working together.

As a manager, I am proactive, close, and accessible in our daily work, and I see you as a valuable part of the important work we do together.

I look forward to welcoming a new colleague to our team. Warmly welcome with your application!"

Job Responsibilities

As a social secretary in the Adult Unit and the intake unit, you will conduct qualified intake, investigation, and follow-up work. In the intake unit, protection assessments are handled within the framework of the Youth Act (LVU) and the Care of Abusers Act (LVM), as well as risk and protection assessments for individuals exposed to domestic violence.

You will work with the whole picture within the intake unit together with your close colleagues. The focus of your position will be authority decisions regarding domestic violence, both in the acute phase and the initial investigation work.

You will work independently but also in collaboration with colleagues and partners, always with the client in focus.

Qualifications and Merits

Requirements for the position:

  • Social Work degree (Social Worker).
  • Category B driver's license.
  • You must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, and you enjoy writing.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience of a few years of work with authority decisions in the adult area or social child welfare, especially within the area of domestic violence.

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to adults within the social services area and who are driven by making a real difference in people's lives. You are responsible, professional, and meet both colleagues and clients with respect and good treatment.

You thrive in collaboration with others and actively contribute to our positive work climate, while also having the ability to work independently and make your own decisions when the situation requires it. With confidence in your professional role, you are flexible and adaptable in an operation where conditions sometimes change quickly.

At our workplace, collaboration is a given, and we work together for the client's best interest, valuing that you see the strength in teamwork.
