BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik is in an expansion phase due to billion-dollar contracts. To meet the demand, BAE Systems Hägglund is recruiting for the Product Safety department.

The department currently consists of ten employees, and our overall responsibility is to strengthen the safety of our vehicle systems and reduce the vehicles' impact on the environment.

Your future challenge

In this role, you will interact with several technical areas (electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, software). You will build a broad network within the company. You will have the opportunity to develop specialist competence in the qualification of safety-critical systems.

As a Product Safety Engineer, you define requirements and analyze the pros and cons of different design concepts and constructions with the aim of ensuring that our customers receive a safe product. You work based on our system safety process, which aims to create safe vehicle systems for both our own personnel and end-users.

Our main products are medium-weight combat vehicles (CV90) and armored all-terrain vehicles (BvS10).

You are responsible for

Planning and driving product safety work forward in projects. Ensuring that delivery occurs according to our internal processes.

The work involves collaboration with many different functions such as product developers, designers, test personnel, and service personnel. You also have contact with customers, end-users, and authorities regarding issues related to product safety and legislation.

The duties include:

• Represent product safety in a development project's management organization and guide project resources.
• Perform consequence and probability analyses of safety risks and formulate requirements for design solutions.
• Identify and analyze risks in complex technical systems and translate results into concrete requirements for design and construction.
• Document and present analyses regarding product safety, incidents, and accident investigations.
• Be leading and advisory in product safety matters during project meetings and project follow-ups.
• Conduct reviews and audits regarding functional safety.

The position offers travel, both within and outside Sweden.

The person you are

To succeed in the role, you need to have a strong interest in technology to understand the combined risk profile of our products. Since the position is interdisciplinary, it is beneficial if you have practical experience in design and/or systems work within electrical, electronics, software, mechanics, or hydraulics.

A suitable educational background is a Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Alternatively, you have acquired your knowledge through long-term practical work.

Experience with Mil-std-882, ISO26262, IEC61508, or ISO13849 is advantageous. If you have not worked with product safety before, we will offer training and mentoring.

Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required.

Since you will work both independently and in project form, as well as with significant autonomy, it is important that you have good communication and initiative skills. You are analytical, see logical connections, and have good judgment.

You are responsible and can drive your tasks with integrity and persuasiveness. You have good ability to plan and organize your work in the short and long term and can document your work.
