About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.

Viskan Prison is a closed prison that began receiving inmates in March 2025. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others also work here. The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or industrial production. Viskan Prison is most easily reached by car, and staff parking is available.

Job Description

We are now looking for a Production Manager with a focus on sheet metal and welding!

As a Production Manager, you have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production.

In your daily contact with the inmates, your work involves contributing to the clients' learning but also encouraging them to reflect on their situation.

As a Production Manager with us, you participate in all aspects of the occupation, while also having your own specialty area where you deepen your knowledge. You are responsible for supervising and leading the clients in daily operations. The work involves planning, distributing, and following up on tasks, while you also participate in production yourself. You are responsible for the entire process, from idea to finished product, with a continuous focus on quality. You also contribute to developing routines, collaborate closely with other production managers and professional groups, and are an important part of the clients' learning, development, and social training.

As a Production Manager, you are part of the security work, which means you may, for example, be required to perform body searches. The role does not involve personnel responsibility, but you are responsible for the daily leadership of the inmates.

This position is a fixed-term appointment due to an employee's leave of absence. The fixed-term appointment covers the period from 2026-10-01 to 2027-09-30. There may be an opportunity for an extension.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to collaborate with other people and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you are calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and prioritizations. You communicate clearly and have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge, adapting your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You must also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for you who have:

• Experience in production work within the manufacture of sheet metal and metal products
• Experience in welding technology
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
• Completed upper secondary education or alternative education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant

The following are also meritorious:

• Good understanding of sheet metal processing and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of MIG/MAG and/or TIG welding
• Experience with CAD/CAM programs for both 2D and 3D design for laser cutting of sheet metal
• Experience working with press brakes and bending, preferably supplemented with experience with CNC-controlled press brakes
• Education within the industrial technology program, technology program, or equivalent
• Work experience within the correctional service or similar operations.
• Ability to lead and distribute work in a production-oriented environment

Interviews are expected to be conducted on Thursday and Friday of week 31.
