Some jobs are about keeping time. Others are about keeping time and making life possible.
I am a 35-year-old man living with an acquired brain injury following an accident. With the help of my assistants, I can continue to participate in the things that give life meaning – everything from exercise, cinema, and various events to social gatherings and quiet evenings at home. Humor is an important part of my daily life, and I appreciate people who can see the little light even when things don't always go as planned.
I am now looking for you who have experience working with people and thrive in a role where precision, responsibility, and care go hand in hand. You are self-assured, have a calm approach, and understand that it is often the small details that make the big difference.
I live with round-the-clock double assistance, which means you will always work together with a colleague. I use a ventilator and communicate primarily through body language and eye contact, which requires presence, attentiveness, and the ability to read situations.
To thrive in this role, we believe you:
Have experience in care, elderly care, personal assistance, or other work where people are the focus. Are active, proactive, and enjoy making things happen. Have patience and endurance even when progress comes step by step. Are precise and understand the importance of following routines. Speak and understand Swedish fluently. Have good physical fitness and feel comfortable with transfers and assistive devices.
Experience with ventilators is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you have the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
Working hours vary between days, evenings, and every other weekend. You will work both longer and shorter shifts according to the schedule.
We are primarily looking for you who want to stay and become an important part of the team over time. The position starts as an hourly employment with the possibility of transitioning to a fixed-term position of approximately 75–80 percent, as long as the assistance assignment lasts.
The position will be filled as soon as we have met the right assistant, so if you are interested, apply now! We are conducting interviews on an ongoing basis!
GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. For us, personal assistance is about creating conditions for a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. In many assignments, the person entitled to assistance is the employer themselves, while in others, a deputy employer has been appointed. Assignments and roles vary depending on the operation and function.
GIL's office provides support in areas such as management, administration, finance, HR, and education. Together, we contribute to making everyday life work for both those entitled to assistance and employees within the cooperative.
To attract and retain secure and engaged employees, GIL invests in education and joint activities.
• GIL's assistants have a collective agreement with Fremia–Kommunal
• Wellness allowance of up to 2,500 SEK/year
• Individual salary setting
• Extract from the police criminal record must be presented upon employment
Please submit your application as soon as possible, as selection is ongoing.
