About the position

We are advertising up to two positions. You will belong to the Molecular Cancer Diagnostics unit, which is part of the Section for Molecular Cancer Diagnostics & Screening. Our main task here is to use molecular methods to examine tumors and potential genetic changes, ordered by pathologists, which we then report back to the requesting physician.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team together with doctors, engineers, molecular biologists, and biomedical laboratory scientists. We use the latest technology in DNA/RNA sequencing to contribute to more precise molecular diagnostics and thereby create great value for patients.

In this role, you will among other things:

  • Register samples in our lab data system Sympathy and handle sample shipping.
  • Cut formalin-fixed, embedded preparations.
  • Handle incoming samples and perform quality controls prior to DNA/RNA sequencing work.
  • Work with various instruments (e.g., PCR, sequencing).
  • Document results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and work within the quality management system.
  • Report deviations and incidents, and actively contribute to quality work by suggesting improvements to our workflows.
  • Maintain contact with collaboration partners.
  • Perform regular cleaning in the laboratories, restock consumables, and unpack reagents and other deliveries.

  • Are meticulous and methodical in your approach with good problem-solving skills.
  • Are responsible, meticulous, structured, and positive.
  • Have good laboratory experience and a strong ability to plan your work.
  • Have the ability to adapt to new situations.
  • Easily build good relationships with different staff groups.
  • Can take initiative and perform work independently.
  • We work in real-time, so flexibility, good teamwork skills, and willingness to step in where needed are prerequisites for you to thrive here.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Degree as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or a Master's degree in molecular life sciences, e.g., biotechnology, biomedicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, or equivalent competence.
  • Experience of laboratory work with molecular biological methods.
  • Experience of documentation regarding quality, method descriptions, and/or verification reports.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Merits:

  • Experience working in accredited operations (ISO15189, ISO17025, or equivalent).
  • Experience in method and/or instrument responsibility.
  • Experience in learning and development.
  • Participation in authority inspections (e.g., SWEDAC).
  • Good proficiency in working with computers and IT systems as work tools.

Personal suitability is highly valued.
