About the position

The position is a fixed-term assignment until May 2027. You will belong to the Molecular Cancer Diagnostics unit, which is part of the Section for Molecular Cancer Diagnostics and Screening. The main focus is on molecular methods, primarily genetic analyses performed using the Agena MassARRAY MALDI-TOF system.

Some of the genetic analyses are performed on behalf of researchers and clinicians to identify relevant genetic markers. The results are reported back to the requesters, sometimes treating physicians, as a basis for diagnosis and treatment. Some assignments are also carried out to identify samples using an ID panel.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team together with doctors, engineers, molecular biologists, and biomedical laboratory scientists. We work with both research and clinical analyses. A large part of our methods are accredited, and we have active quality work.

We use the latest technology in molecular genetics to contribute to more precise molecular diagnostics and thereby create great value for patients.

In the role, you will among other things:

• Handle incoming samples (manually and robotized).
• Take responsibility for routine tasks included in our processes.
• Maintain robotics.
• Perform DNA quality analyses.
• Handle incoming samples and perform genotyping.
• Analyze and interpret results and discuss findings together with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams.
• Work with our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and our electronic laboratory notebook system (ELN).
• Handle patient data.
• Document results in the laboratory information system (LIS) and work in our quality management system (Centuri).
• Report deviations and incidents, and actively contribute to quality work by suggesting improvements in our workflows.
• Maintain contact with partners.
• Perform regular cleaning in the laboratories, replenish consumables, and unpack reagents and other deliveries.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or Master's degree in molecular life sciences, e.g., biotechnology, biomedicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, or equivalent competence.
• Experience in laboratory work with molecular genetic methods and techniques, such as genotyping.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Merits:

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs.
• Practical experience with conventional and real-time PCR techniques.
• Good habit of working with computers and IT systems as work tools.
• Experience with quality systems or work in accredited operations (ISO 17025, ISO 15189, or equivalent).
