Västerbergslagens Educational Consortium, VBU, is a municipal consortium that provides upper secondary education, adult education, vocational higher education, commissioned training, and cultural schools. We operate on behalf of the municipalities of Ludvika and Smedjebacken. VBU has approximately 220 employees, 2,700 students, and an annual turnover of approximately 325 million SEK. Our operations are located in Ludvika, Smedjebacken, and Grängesberg.

Do you want to help shape the future of the educational organization? We are looking for an engaged HR Specialist in Ludvika!

Subject to necessary approvals, Västerbergslagens Educational Consortium (VBU) is seeking an engaged and development-oriented HR Specialist who wishes to strengthen our organization. In this role, you will hold a strategically important position, working closely with management and operations on HR matters that contribute to creating favorable conditions for our employees and our activities.

About the position

As an HR Specialist, you will be part of VBU's HR function, working alongside an HR Manager. You will work closely with the consortium leadership and managers, providing qualified support in both strategic and operational HR matters.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Ludvika, with occasional travel to our workplaces in Smedjebacken and Grängesberg.

Start date is to be agreed upon. A probationary period may apply, and a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) will be required.

Responsibilities

In the role of HR Specialist, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Employment law issues and advisory services
  • Supporting managers in personnel-related matters
  • Work environment management and systematic work environment work
  • Collaboration and collective bargaining with trade unions
  • Development of HR processes and working methods
  • Strategic HR work linked to the organization's goals and development

The work is largely strategic but also includes operational elements where you support the business in daily HR tasks.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree in HR/Personnel Management or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Several years of experience in independent HR work, preferably in an advisory role to managers
  • Good knowledge of employment law and HR processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish
  • A valid driver's license (Category B)

The following qualifications are considered meritorious:

  • Experience working in municipal or other public sector operations
  • Experience in negotiations and collaboration with trade union organizations
  • Experience in providing qualified support to management within HR

Personal qualities

To succeed in this role, we see that you are independent and confident in your professional role. You are relationship-building and have an aptitude for creating trust-based collaborations at different levels within the organization. As a person, you are structured and have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work. Since the role involves significant advisory duties, you are communicative and pedagogical in how you support and guide managers and employees.
