School Counselor (Grades 3–9) – International English School

International English School (IES) is looking for an engaged and relationship-building school counselor to work with students in grades 3–9. As a school counselor with us, you will play a vital role in strengthening students' well-being, safety, and prerequisites for achieving their goals.

About the Role

As a school counselor, you are a key part of the school's student health team (EHT). You work both preventively and supportively to promote students' mental and social health.

You will collaborate closely with students, guardians, teachers, student health staff, and school leadership to create a safe and positive school environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supportive conversations with students at both individual and group levels
• Work preventively with safety, well-being, inclusion, and mental health
• Be an active part of the school's student health team
• Collaborate with educators regarding students' social development and well-being
• Participate in student health meetings and contribute to interventions for students in need of support
• Work on promoting initiatives related to attendance, motivation, and school engagement
• Maintain contact with guardians as needed
• Contribute to the school's values-based work and safety initiatives

We are looking for someone who

• Is a trained social worker (socionom) or has equivalent education
• Has experience working with children and young people, preferably in schools or student health
• Is confident, empathetic, and professional in interactions with students
• Has a good ability to build trusting relationships
• Is structured and can work independently while collaborating well with others
• Has a solution-focused and preventive approach to work
• Has a good understanding of confidentiality, professional ethics, and the school's mission
• Thrives in an international and multicultural environment
• Fluently speaks and writes both Swedish and English
