1 position(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to be part of a dynamic and innovative operational area? Are you motivated by leading and motivating others? Great, then you might be the Senior Social Worker we are looking for.

You will become part of a work group consisting of a unit manager, 24 social workers, four senior social workers, one social assistant, and three administrators. The unit is divided into four teams that work together on the unit's tasks and goals. The target group is children aged 13–17 and their families.

The unit's mission is to investigate children's need for protection and/or support according to the Social Services Act, as well as the LUL (Law on Care of Young Persons) legislation and LuL. The unit also conducts preliminary assessments when concerns or applications arise in ongoing cases and follows up on interventions. The Senior Social Worker has a central role in the operation by leading and distributing tasks to social workers and in close collaboration with the unit manager and other team leaders based on operational needs.

The Youth Investigation Unit works with close supervision, i.e., high accessibility, trust, and responsibility based on function and delegation. From autumn 2026, you as a Senior Social Worker will receive group supervision through an external supervisor together with other Senior Social Workers within Välfärd Gävle. This is to support a good and stimulating work environment that strengthens the possibilities for close supervision.

Your responsibilities include among other things:

  • Lead through close supervision in individual cases and for a good work environment.
  • Delegate tasks and provide advice, support, and conditions for colleagues' development.
  • Ensure that case handling and documentation maintain good quality.
  • Be responsible for case reviews, case distribution, and planning the operation based on operational needs.
  • Provide support and guidance in complex cases.
  • Introduce new employees to the workplace and guide social workers in their professional roles.
  • Handle cases and represent the unit in court when necessary.
  • Work to ensure competence and quality assurance of the operation, e.g., contribute to method development, environmental scanning, and work with routines.
  • Work closely with the unit manager and other Senior Social Workers in the unit's management group and collaborate based on the unit's operational plans and action plans.
  • Act as deputy unit manager.

Interviews will take place on-site during week 34.

We warmly welcome your application!

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree in Social Work (210 ECTS), or equivalent in the older system.
  • Category B driver's license and driving experience.
  • At least 4 years of work experience in authority activities for the current target group, children aged 13–17 and their families.

Previous experience in leadership is meritorious.

You need to have a good ability to create and maintain trusting relationships, both in relation to those we meet and in relation to the work group and other collaboration partners. To handle the different situations that may arise at work, you also need to be flexible, solution-focused, and enjoy collaborating across operational boundaries with the client's needs in focus. You are a confident person and feel comfortable making independent decisions based on current legislation, while also being sensitive to the work group's need for support and development. Therefore, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

A certificate of no criminal record (extract from the police's register of convictions) is required for this position. This will only be requested from the final candidate in the last step of the recruitment process.
