The Department of Social Work is organizationally part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Linnaeus University. The operations are conducted at the Kalmar and Växjö campuses. We offer education in social work at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The research conducted here is primarily focused on areas concerning the living conditions of children and young people, older persons, and persons with disabilities, research on gender and violence, migration research, as well as labor market and welfare research.

Location: Växjö or Kalmar
Employment extent: Full-time. Fixed-term employment until 2027-07-31.
Start date: As soon as possible according to agreement, but no later than 2026-11-01.
Job Description
The duties consist of educational planning and teaching in the Social Work program and standalone courses, as well as commissioned training for professionals. The teaching mainly involves instructing on social work methods, integrating theory and practice, and theoretical perspectives within the core area of the subject. Additionally, teaching and coordination of profession-preparatory components such as Practice Education (VFU) and Personal Professional Development (PPU) may be included in the duties. We offer an active educational environment and value employees who initiate and carry out development work within the subject area.
The position involves collaboration with other teachers, researchers, and the surrounding society, both nationally and internationally, as well as active participation in the department's joint work. Most of the department's courses include varying degrees of flexible teaching, which requires skills in teaching and administering using various digital tools.
Administrative knowledge, teamwork skills, and flexibility are qualities of great importance, both in relation to students and within the teaching staff, research environments, and the surrounding society.
The teaching is conducted primarily in Swedish. Travel between the university's two campuses occurs as teaching in both Kalmar and Växjö is included in the employment.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer at Linnaeus University, one must have completed a Master's degree in Social Work or another closely related subject area, or have equivalent competence, and demonstrated pedagogical skill.
Equivalent competence generally refers to a degree from a foreign university with essentially the same level and quality as a Swedish Master's degree in Social Work or another closely related subject area.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, in Swedish and English are required.
Evaluation Criteria
As evaluation criteria for the employment of a University Lecturer, the degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for employment shall apply. When selecting among qualified applicants, special weight will be placed on pedagogical skill. The pedagogical skill should concern both the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, as well as supervision and examination.

When the university hires new teachers, the applicants shall be chosen who, through a qualitative overall assessment, are judged to have the best prerequisites for carrying out and developing current duties and contributing to a successful development of the operations.
