Job Responsibilities

Are you drawn to the idea of enabling a developing and inclusive future for newly arrived children and young people? Then this might be the job for you! We are looking for an engaged mother tongue teacher! Come and shape Gävle's future with us.

Students should be given the opportunity to develop and consolidate subject knowledge based on their linguistic prerequisites. Therefore, we are now seeking a mother tongue teacher in Romanian for Gävle Municipality's primary schools. The work is carried out in collaboration with other educators, student health services, and guardians.

As a mother tongue teacher in Romanian, your responsibilities include:

• teaching the language
• teaching students about the culture and traditions of the countries where the language is spoken

The teaching follows a curriculum with a comparative purpose, which also means that you must have good proficiency in Swedish.

For students who have difficulty meeting the knowledge requirements or keeping up with other subjects, you as a mother tongue teacher can provide support through study guidance. This involves highlighting or deepening students' knowledge in areas where Swedish concepts need to be clarified and discussed in their mother tongue.

The employment extent is 20%.

Qualifications

To perform the duties, it is required that you:

• fluent in Romanian, both spoken and written
• fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written
• can work based on the organization's goals and follow planning

It is important that you:

• feel confident standing and speaking, reading, or writing in front of a larger group of children or young people
• have a relationship-building approach
• can create an open dialogue
• adapt your actions based on the situation
• have an egalitarian approach in your collaboration with others
