Do you want to work strategically with environmental and sustainability issues and contribute to a sustainable Kungälv?

Kungälv Municipality is now seeking a qualified and engaged Environmental Strategist for the Project and Environmental Management unit within the Community Planning sector. The role is central to the municipality's work for long-term sustainable community development.

The position has a clear strategic focus and involves working broadly with environmental and sustainability matters related to the municipality's projects, plans, and investments. You will work in close collaboration with the unit's operational managers, ecologists, environmental and water coordinators, but will have a more strategic responsibility and drive cross-administrative processes.

In this role, you will be a qualified support to project managers and directors, and drive cross-administrative projects and processes to ensure a good environment and achieve more sustainable community development.

Responsibilities

The role includes, among other things:

  • Working strategically with environmental and sustainability issues in the municipality's planning and project activities.
  • Being an expert support and advisor to project managers, unit directors, and other functions within the municipality.
  • Ensuring that environmental aspects are integrated early and systematically into the municipality's projects and other operations.
  • Coordinating and complementing the work together with operational managers, climate officers, water coordinators, and ecologists.
  • Acting as the client for consultancy services, including preparing task descriptions, setting requirements, and follow-up.
  • Reviewing and quality-assuring investigations, analyses, and materials from consultants.
  • Contributing to the development of the municipality's governing documents and routines within the area.
  • Holding dialogue with authorities, developers, and other external actors as the municipality's expert representative.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic degree in environmental science, ecology, climate, sustainable development, or another relevant field.
  • Several years of experience working with climate and/or environmental issues, preferably in strategic contexts.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policy instruments, and national goals within the environmental and climate sector.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, and good ability to understand and express yourself in English.
  • Category B driver's license.

Meritorious

  • Experience in a client role and in reviewing and following up on consultancy assignments.
  • Experience working in or close to the public sector.
  • Competence and experience in working with contaminated sites.
