Are you drawn to a workplace where community, development, and joy in work are at the center? Do you have a genuine interest in collaboration and working closely with other professions? Then you could be our future colleague! As one of our occupational therapists will be on parental leave, we welcome an occupational therapist for a one-year fixed-term position.
The Emergency Care and Internal Medicine (VO) department belongs to Skåne University Hospital (Sus) and operates in both Lund and Malmö, as well as having its own rehabilitation unit with 49 employees. Currently, 21 occupational therapists work here together with physiotherapists and social workers.
In Lund, we are nine dynamic occupational therapists working in teams alongside doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, social workers, and assistant nurses. We staff the emergency department, two medical wards, the Clinical Education Department (KUA), the Acute Ward (AVA), Sus Hospital at Home (SSH), and the medical clinic/day care. We rotate within the operations in Lund, which provides opportunities for breadth and variation over time through work in both outpatient and inpatient care as well as in the patient's home environment.
Here you will meet patients with various diagnoses and conditions. On the medical wards, you primarily meet older patients with multiple chronic conditions, where the most common diagnoses are COPD, heart failure, infection, and cognitive impairment. In the emergency department, you meet patients of various ages who need activity/function assessments to support the doctor's decisions regarding safe discharge or admission.
Since the launch of SSH Lund in autumn 2023, we have successfully worked to develop this new form of care in collaboration with the municipalities in central Skåne. The occupational therapist is involved in creating and adapting safe care and rehabilitation for patients in their own home environment. This includes, among other things, activity assessment, prescription/provision of assistive devices, and adaptations of the living environment to facilitate the patient's daily life and promote independence.
We are a department in constant development, where the occupational therapist's competence is valuable and in demand!
1 position.
In the role of occupational therapist, your work is characterized by personal responsibility, participation, and teamwork. Your tasks involve activity/function assessment and interventions in consultation with the patient, both independently and in close collaboration with, among others, physiotherapists. Together, you play important roles in the multidisciplinary team with a person-centered approach to provide the patient with the best possible care. The work also involves collaboration with the municipality and primary care to ensure good care duration and a safe discharge for the patient. Additionally, you are interested in working with development projects such as new methods for acute hospital care at home.
We strive for an employment culture where each employee is active in their own learning and has a desire to contribute to driving the operations forward. Together, we work to constantly improve, and we value initiative and innovation. We operate on the concept that employees are gradually given the opportunity to build, broaden, and sharpen their competence within the different areas of our broad operations. You work Monday to Friday during daytime hours and also work every seventh Saturday between 7:30 and 14:00. For Saturday work, you receive a day off in compensation.
As a new employee, we offer you an individually adapted introduction to our operations as well as mentoring by an experienced colleague.
We welcome you who are a licensed occupational therapist with eligibility to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. Additionally, you must have a valid B driver's license. Previous experience in emergency care and/or home care is meritorious. We welcome both experienced and newly graduated candidates.
Your personal qualities are of great importance for the position, and we are looking for you who have good skills in collaboration, communication, and promoting a good work environment. To succeed in the role, you have good empathy and can work both independently and in a team. You have a rehabilitative mindset and can plan and prioritize while also being able to quickly adapt to the department's needs for the day. It is important to be able to collaborate with different professional groups and have a holistic view with the patient at the center. You are responsible and have a drive to develop both yourself and the operations.
In this recruitment, we work with continuous selection. Please submit your application; we look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and telling you more about our operations!
