About the workplace

The Eskilstuna Pastorate consists of four parishes, two preschools, and a funeral service. The pastorate's support functions have broad competence in areas such as communication, economics, HR, and property management, which creates good conditions for the parishes to focus on their core mission.

St. Ansgar's Parish is located in the middle of a multicultural area where meetings between people, languages, cultures, and traditions are a natural part of everyday life. The parish includes two churches, nine employed staff members, and a large number of engaged volunteers. Together with Västra Rekarne Parish, our rural parish with six employees, we form a joint work team where collaboration, community, and mutual support characterize daily life.

Both parishes are in an exciting phase of development. We are investing long-term in work with children, youth, and confirmation candidates, and we see positive development both in the scope of the activities and in the number of participants. There is genuine commitment and a desire to think new thoughts here, while we stand firm in the Church of Sweden's faith and tradition.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who have a commitment to young people's life questions, community, and faith. You are relationship-building, secure in your identity as a priest, and see the value of building trusting relationships over time. You thrive in collaboration with others and have the ability to inspire both young people and colleagues and volunteer staff.

To thrive as an associate priest with us, you will have an important role both strategically and operationally. You will be a driving force in the development of the parishes' work with children, young people, and young adults, in close collaboration with educators, musicians, volunteer leaders, and other staff.

The assignment includes developing work with children, young people, and young adults, planning and conducting confirmation work, participating in camps, youth gatherings, and other meeting places for young people. Contribute to creating safe and inclusive contexts where young people can grow in faith, community, and responsibility, as well as develop forms for youth participation in worship and parish life.

In addition, this includes usual priestly duties such as worship services, church ceremonies, and pastoral care.

Your main placement is in St. Ansgar's Parish, but service also takes place in Västra Rekarne Parish.

The position includes day, evening, and weekend service.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• are ordained priests in the Church of Sweden
• have good digital competence
• express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• have a B driver's license (access to a personal car is positive)
• have experience and/or documented engagement in work with young people, young adults, or confirmation candidates (meritorious)

We are looking for you who want to be a companion for young people on their journey through life. You have a genuine interest in young people's everyday life, questions, and future, and feel comfortable in conversations about faith, identity, meaning, and existential questions.

You are well rooted in the Church of Sweden's faith, tradition, and life, while also having the courage to think new thoughts and the desire to develop the church's presence in today's society. You see opportunities rather than obstacles and have ideas on how the church can be relevant to new generations.
