We are now looking for a Sports Director who wants to advance sports journalism and make it more engaging for both existing and new readers.

About Erna Media

Erna Media is a company within the Erna Group with a clear growth strategy for the coming years. Within the group, we operate in local journalism, marketing, distribution, and property management. We are located in Skaraborg, Dalsland, and Värmland.

The core of our operations is built on our societal mission to strengthen democracy and stand as defenders of independent journalism. We contribute to an inclusive society where everyone can participate. Our strongest sustainability tool is journalism, where our editorial teams daily work to cover and engage with issues concerning freedom of speech and other sustainability-related matters.

As an employee, you have access to, among other things:

  • Holiday homes in Trysil, Gran Canaria, and Florida
  • Leasing of a bicycle against gross salary deduction
  • Digital service aimed at preventing stress-related ill health through physical activity
  • Wellness allowance
  • Free newspaper
  • Three extra days of leave per year
  • Flexible pension
  • Salary top-up on parental leave

About the role:

As Sports Director, you see the value in reporting knowledgeably about our local teams and profiles, but you are also passionate about highlighting other important parts of the sports world – everything from mental health to the varying conditions in youth sports. As a person, you are structured, creative, and engaged. You are an unpretentious team player who is happy to share your competence and appreciates learning new things.

You have solid knowledge of sports and a strong desire to develop coverage beyond the traditional, with the goal of creating journalism that attracts a wider audience.

About you:

You have experience leading journalists, work independently and are receptive, and are driven by achieving results. You are skilled at publishing – on the web, in video format, and on social media – and you are curious to learn what you do not yet master.

  • A journalism education or equivalent work experience, with previous work in a newsroom.
  • Photography skills
  • Good language skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to find news and stories that engage the audience
  • A valid driver's license (Category B) is required
