Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, offering a unique combination of nature's quiet beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and much more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We aim to be the ones who make the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for homes, families, and businesses a reality.

To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together to build a common and trust-based work culture, built on brave, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the citizens.

About the Family Team

The Unit for Children and Young People - Support and Interventions is part of the Individual and Family Care department and includes Mini Maria, the Youth Clinic, Field Operations Polarna, Parent Support Hamnen, and the Family Team.

Our Family Team is a cohesive and pleasant group where four experienced family therapists and two skilled family educators work closely together. We value strong collaboration and a positive work environment, where every member contributes their expertise and experience to support children, young people, and their families.

Your Role

We are now looking for an engaged family educator to join our Family Team. In this role, you will work with children and young people aged 0–18 who exhibit problematic behavior, as well as families where care is insufficient.

As a family educator, you will offer practical support and guidance to families through family educational interventions. Part of the work involves providing support during visits between children and custodial parents, where you create safe and structured meetings. Visit support is primarily given during visits between children placed in foster care and their biological parents, as well as between children and parents when the District Court has decided on the need for visit support.

The family educational intervention targets parents with children aged 0-18 who have difficulty making daily life and parenthood work. This may include parents struggling with extensive social problems, mental health issues, or cognitive and neuropsychiatric difficulties that affect their ability to parent. The intervention is needs-based and aims to strengthen the parents' capacity, so that families get better conditions to handle their life situation and manage daily life independently.

Your Responsibilities

As a family educator, you will:

  • Offer practical support, for example, helping to create functional daily routines for the children and strengthening parenting skills.
  • Support parents in contact with schools and other key actors in the children's lives.
  • Mobilize and involve networks around the family to create a safety net around the children.
  • Collaborate with other actors around the children and their families, such as social services, schools, and healthcare providers.

The position also involves some evening duties to best meet the families' needs.

Another important part of the role is to provide support during visits between children and their biological parents, especially for children in social care. Your task is to ensure that visits take place in a safe and well-functioning manner, so that children have positive meetings with their parents and other important people in their lives. Visit support is also provided following decisions by the District Court and includes preparation before, support during, and follow-up after visit occasions. Documentation of interventions is a central part of the job.

Your Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A basic education as a social pedagogue, treatment pedagogue, or social worker, or alternatively, another equivalent education supplemented with relevant work experience for the position.
  • Experience in family educational interventions with at least two years of practical experience working with children and families in their home environment.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

We place great importance on your personal suitability.

Your Personal Qualities

As a family educator, you work closely with families in their daily lives and need to be able to translate support measures into practical action. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is proactive, service-oriented, and structured.

You are proactive and have the ability to independently identify needs, take responsibility, and drive the work forward. You can identify what needs to be done to strengthen the family's situation and take active initiative for actions, collaboration, and follow-up.

You are service-oriented and have a respectful and solution-focused approach. You build trusting relationships with children, parents, and partners, and have the ability to meet people in different life situations with sensitivity, clarity, and engagement.

You work in a structured manner and can plan, organize, and follow up on several parallel interventions simultaneously. You document carefully, adhere to agreed timeframes, and create clarity for families through a systematic approach.

Application

For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police criminal record and a B driver's license is a requirement for employment.

The employment is for a fixed term until December 31, 2026, and covers 100%.

We welcome your application by July 8. Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis!

Värmdö Municipality offers a wellness allowance, an SL public transport card against net salary deduction, and holiday exchange for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.

We strive for an even gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants from various backgrounds.
