The Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department includes research and education in the subjects: business administration, law, economics, statistics, geography and tourism science.
Responsibilities
The work as a university lecturer consists mainly of teaching at the undergraduate level, primarily on the Administrative Law programme. The Administrative Law programme is a three-year bachelor's programme combined with political science. In addition, teaching on courses in other educational programmes, standalone courses and commissioned education is included.
The appointment is mainly focused on teaching and research within the area of public law, with a special focus on municipal law and public procurement. The responsibilities also include teaching in other areas of public law, such as general and specific administrative law, administrative procedural law, and EU law.
The position includes research using free research funds, the extent of which varies and is decided jointly by the subject's research collegium. In addition to teaching, the responsibilities include supervising students, course responsibility, course and programme development, and own research. The applicant is also expected to actively participate in the subject's pedagogical development work and fill administrative and collegial roles at various levels at the university. Competence development and administration take place within the framework of the employment according to the current working time agreement and local guidelines (currently a total of 10% of annual working time).
Teaching is mainly conducted physically on campus in Östersund. Travel between the campuses in Östersund and Sundsvall may occur.
Qualifications
Those to be employed as university lecturers must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations as well as according to the requirements described in the Faculty of Humanities' rules and guidelines.
Qualified for the position of university lecturer in law is someone who has shown pedagogical skill, has completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence or has other professional skills that are significant with regard to the content and tasks of the employment.
The qualification refers to a doctoral degree in legal science.
For qualification as a university lecturer, higher education pedagogical education comprising at least 15 higher education credits or at least 10 weeks of full-time study is required. If this is missing, the employed university lecturer must achieve this within two years from the time of employment.
Other requirements
Ability to independently plan and conduct research within the area of public law.
Ability to independently plan and conduct teaching in Swedish within the area of public law.
Excellent knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing.
It is assumed that the applicant is physically present on campus in Östersund both in the workday and to participate in the subject's meetings.

Evaluation criteria
As evaluation criteria for the employment of a lecturer, the degree of such skill that is a requirement for qualification for the employment shall apply. Equal care is given to the assessment of pedagogical skill as scientific skill. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
Scientific skill is assessed primarily through a combination of the quality of submitted writings, taking into account depth and breadth. In assessing scientific skill, it is meritorious to have conducted independent research within municipal law and public procurement. Scientific publications in both Swedish and English, different types of publications (e.g., articles and monographs) and publications in collaboration with other researchers are meritorious, as are competitive research grants from external funders and research fellowships. In addition, experience of editorial work, peer review and doctoral supervision is meritorious.
Pedagogical skill is assessed primarily through successful teaching in Swedish within the area of public law, especially in municipal law and public procurement. Experience of independent teaching, supervision and examination at different levels (undergraduate, advanced level, doctoral level) is meritorious as well as teaching experience in English and of commissioned education. In addition, experience of course responsibility and course development is meritorious.
In assessing other skills, the following merits are desirable and have equal weight: a law degree from a Swedish university, experience of collegial and administrative roles at a university or college, and external assignments in the role of researcher (e.g., board member).
Processing
The processing of the employment follows the forms specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and continues in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.
Employment and start date
The employment is a permanent full-time position with a start date of 2027-01-01 or as agreed.
