Your Next Challenge

As an Automation Engineer, you play a central and broad role in ensuring operational safety, efficiency, and the long-term development of the company's automation and OT systems. You are responsible for the development, management, and maintenance of control systems such as PLC and DCS, and you drive improvements through analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization of processes and OT environments.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with operations, maintenance, project organization, IT/OT, and external suppliers, where you contribute as a technical specialist and participate in or lead projects. The role covers both operational tasks, such as commissioning and troubleshooting, and strategic work involving system standardization, investments, and technical development. You conduct risk analyses, participate in the lifecycle management of OT systems, and coordinate external specialists.

Furthermore, you ensure that solutions are operationally safe, standardized, and well-documented, and that backup, redundancy, and recovery routines function effectively. The role also includes work with documentation, routines, and supplier contacts, development of cybersecurity and robustness in the OT infrastructure, as well as support and training for the operations and maintenance organization. On-call duties may be included in the position.

Who Are You?

We are looking for you who have an engineering degree in automation or electrical engineering, or alternatively, several years of relevant experience in the field. You have experience working with automation and OT systems in an industrial environment and possess good knowledge of PLC or DCS systems. You are accustomed to working systematically and have strong documentation skills. The role requires that you thrive in both operational work and development projects, and that you have good knowledge of electrical safety and industrial networks. Experience with lifecycle management (LCM) of OT systems is also a requirement.

It is an advantage if you have experience from large process industries and knowledge of industrial networks and cybersecurity within OT. Experience in advanced process control, such as APC (Advanced Process Control) or model-based control, is also a benefit. Competence in electrical design or instrumentation technology, as well as experience in project management or investment projects, is viewed positively. Furthermore, experience with SAP, such as S4/HANA or earlier versions, as well as SiteBase, is considered an advantage.

The position is a permanent employment with placement at Ortviken. Start date by agreement.
