Assistant Nurse for Plastic and Jaw Surgery

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!

Are you curious and stimulated by taking on challenges?

We are looking for someone who wants variety in their work! Do you enjoy working with improvements and development? So do we! Working in nursing means creating conditions for our patients to recover as quickly as possible. This means we must constantly develop our working methods in nursing and be vigilant regarding pressure ulcers and nutrition, to name two of our important work areas.

What do we have to offer you?

I am proud to lead a group of employees with high potential. We see opportunities for development and want to create a business where the person is at the center (both patient and employee). Since one of our employees will be on parental leave, we are now looking for an assistant nurse who wants to work with us during that time.

Our operations

Ward 85F2 is a surgical care unit specializing in plastic and jaw surgery. The majority of the unit's tasks are focused on surgical care. Here, you are offered a unique insight into plastic and jaw surgery, while also gaining basic knowledge in surgical pre- and post-operative care. Ward 85F2 cares for patients of all ages, and the staff describes it as "positive care" as we reconstruct and heal. We are part of a business area responsible for several national healthcare assignments (now referred to as National Highly Specialized Care); severe burns and certain craniofacial surgeries, among others, which means patients are received from all over Sweden to be offered specialist healthcare. Research is also conducted within the business area with international collaborations.

Your role

As an assistant nurse, you will receive an individually tailored introduction to provide knowledge and a good understanding of our operations. The assistant nurse works in a team with a nurse in a care team, where you work closest to the patient with basic nursing care. Other tasks include monitoring vital signs, certain sample collection, wound dressing, and documentation in the medical record system Cosmic.

Your qualifications

You are an assistant nurse with an interest in or experience of surgical care. If you have previously worked in a hospital or with children, this is an advantage.

Your skills

You are responsible, always keep the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. You are a positive and driven person, and your curiosity gives you the opportunity for new knowledge in everyday life. You strive to develop both yourself and others, seeing it as a matter of course. Together with the colleagues on the ward, you contribute to a pleasant and fun workplace where everyone actively contributes with a positive attitude.

We offer

We offer a fixed-term position for 1 year starting this autumn; we would appreciate it if you were available for rotation.

Here you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
