Special Educator for Järva Gymnasium

BACKGROUND

Järva Gymnasium is a modern, innovative, and inclusive upper secondary school that opened its doors in the autumn of 2024 in the heart of Tensta, occupying the fantastic facilities of the former Tensta Gymnasium. We are now looking for an engaged and development-oriented special educator who wants to help build Sweden's most forward-looking upper secondary school. For the right candidate, the employment level can be flexible and adapted to your competencies, experience, and prerequisites.

We have an ambitious goal to create a school where 100 percent of the students reach their full potential, graduate, and are well-equipped for higher education, working life, and future civic participation.

Järva stands out for its rich diversity, which we consider one of our greatest assets. We are looking for you who appreciate this diversity and see it as a foundation for supporting each student's unique prerequisites for learning, development, and success.

Järva Gymnasium is foundation-owned and ideologically driven. The foundation's purpose is to contribute to increased equality through education. The foundation is non-profit and politically and religiously independent.

As we are a relatively new operation in continuous development, we are looking for you who are flexible, solution-oriented, and want to help develop both the operations and the student health services together with colleagues and school management.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You who are trained as a special educator or have other relevant special pedagogical competence.

You have a good understanding of learning, inclusion, accessible learning environments, and students' different needs. You see the relational perspective as a natural starting point and work preventively, promotively, and developmentally together with the school's staff.

You have the ability to analyze the needs of students and student groups, as well as identify organizational, pedagogical, and social factors that affect learning and goal achievement.

You are accustomed to:

  • conducting pedagogical investigations and assessments,
  • supervising teachers and work teams,
  • contributing to the development of extra adaptations and special support,
  • analyzing results and goal achievement,
  • working systematically with student health issues,
  • developing accessible learning environments,
  • collaborating with guardians and external actors.

You have a strong commitment to the students' development and see collaboration as a key to success.

DUTIES

As a special educator at Järva Gymnasium, you will be a central part of the school's student health team and contribute to the school's systematic quality work.

You will, among other things:

  • conduct pedagogical assessments and investigations,
  • supervise and support teachers in special pedagogical matters,
  • contribute to the development of the school's support measures,
  • work preventively and promotively together with the student health services,
  • follow up and analyze students' goal achievement,
  • develop the work with accessible learning environments,
  • support the school's work with attendance, study environment, and inclusion,
  • contribute to the development of the school's pedagogical models and support structures.

At Järva Gymnasium, we work data-informed and goal-oriented. Result analyses, attendance analyses, and systematic quality work are therefore natural parts of the assignment.

DO YOU

  • Want to join a team of passionate educators, visionaries, and innovators where we together shape a unique upper secondary school with a culture characterized by openness, respect, and collegial learning?
  • Want to contribute to creating a school where every student is given the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background or previous experience?
  • Want to work in close collaboration with school management, student health services, teachers, guardians, and external actors to create the best prerequisites for students' development?
  • Want to develop future student health services and contribute to creating one of Sweden's most inclusive upper secondary schools?

WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • Experience working as a special educator in upper secondary school.
  • Good knowledge of school law, curriculum, and regulatory documents.
  • Experience in supervision and development work.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to translate analyses into practical operational development.
  • Be structured and accustomed to documentation.
  • Experience working with language-developing approaches.
  • See opportunities before obstacles and be flexible in your working methods.
  • Enjoy working both strategically and operationally.

WE OFFER

  • A unique opportunity to positively influence young people in Järva and contribute to their future.
  • A central role in the development of an innovative upper secondary school.
  • The opportunity to help shape future student health services.
  • Support from a very engaged team in the form of a management group, board, and advisory board.
  • A workplace where development, innovation, and collaboration are at the center.
