The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that empowers and strengthens people's ability to live independent lives through proximity and interaction.

Fruktvägen and Cirkelgatan are children's residences under Section 9, Paragraph 8 of the LSS Act (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) – housing with special services for children and young people with disabilities. Staff is available around the clock to provide support and care based on each child's individual needs. We offer a safe home environment where children have the opportunity for social interaction, development, and meaningful activities, both inside and outside the residence. Together, we work to create participation, strengthen the children's independence, and give them the best possible daily life.

We are now looking for three support assistants!

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant at Fruktvägen/Cirkelgatan, you work to ensure that every child has a safe, developmental, and meaningful daily life. Together in the team, we create the best conditions for the children to grow, develop, and participate in their lives – every day.

The role includes, among other things:

  • Supporting and participating with the children in their daily activities, both at home and outdoors.
  • Accompanying them to school and, as a contact person, participating in meetings with, for example, the school and social services.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene.
  • Being responsible for routine household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and washing dishes.
  • Maintaining close dialogue with the children's parents and relatives.
  • Documenting in journals and care plans.
  • Medication delegation and handling of medical conditions such as epilepsy and kidney disease.
  • Collaborating with the manager and colleagues.

Important Information

  • Outbursts and self-harming behavior occur.
  • Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and night shifts.
  • Joint planning occurs between our operations within the Disability Care Services.

About You

To succeed and thrive in the job with us, you have a good ability to cooperate and be flexible. Naturally, you have a professional attitude towards the children, relatives, and other actors around them. You are engaged, share our values, and wish to develop and work towards set goals together with the manager and colleagues. Since the children are fast and active, you need to be in good physical shape to keep up with their pace. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Trained assistant nurse, childcare worker, teacher, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Experience working in LSS operations, schools, preschools, or elderly care.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing, to communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and read care documentation, and obtain medication delegation.
  • Swimming skills, as swimming with the children is part of the job duties.

Merits

  • Experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Experience with epilepsy, children with outbursts, and/or AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
  • Category B driver's license, as our children's operations have a car.
