Support Assistant for Gräshoppan in Mariestad

Gräshoppan is a relatively newly built group home located in a residential area close to the city center and other amenities such as Marieholm Church, a swimming pool, and a bowling alley. Six young adults with various functional variations live here, each having their own apartment with an attached ground-floor terrace. We are currently a team of six support assistants, and we are now looking to recruit one additional support assistant for a permanent full-time position.

Job Description

As a support assistant, you work close to the users in their living environment and are an integral part of user-oriented work. In your role as a support assistant, you work in accordance with LSS legislation to provide individuals with a good quality of life. This means positively encouraging, stimulating, and engaging each person to increase their independence, while creating continuity and security.

Your duties include, among other things, providing care and support based on the individual's needs, such as personal hygiene, laundry, meals, cleaning, social contacts, and support during leisure activities. You will also collaborate with various parties, such as relatives, support educators, day activities staff, nurses, and others. Written documentation is also part of the job.

It is important that you are sensitive to the signals you receive from the residents and that you encourage participation. A key task is to work towards the individual being involved in the planning of their support as well as in community life.

The position is full-time and permanent, with a rotating schedule covering days, evenings, and on-call duties. We would like the start date to be September 1st or as soon as possible thereafter.

Qualifications

You who apply for the position are educated as a nurse assistant (undersköterska) or have studied child and youth activities. Alternatively, you have another post-secondary behavioral science education that the employer deems relevant.

We place special emphasis on training in:

• Low affective interaction
• Motivational Interviewing (MI)

It is an advantage if you have work experience with NPF diagnoses (Neurodevelopmental Disorders), intellectual disability, clarifying pedagogy, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication/TAKK).

When working at Gräshoppan, it is important that you are positive and secure as a person and that you are sensitive to the individual's needs. You are responsible, see solutions instead of obstacles, and enjoy varied tasks. As a person, you are good at motivating and engaging the residents in their daily lives and activities.

Other personal qualities important for fulfilling the role include curiosity in meeting people and keeping the individual's needs at the center. You also have good written and verbal skills in Swedish, considering communication and documentation. We use digital tools, which you need to learn to handle quickly.

A manual B-driver's license is a requirement for the position.
