Support Pedagogue for Gräshoppan in Mariestad
Within the Functional Support department, our mission is to strengthen people's abilities for independence, self-determination, and participation in their lives. We strive to ensure that individuals receive stimulation, development, meaningfulness, and community.
We are now looking for a Support Pedagogue for a housing facility with special support in central Mariestad. Gräshoppan is a relatively new group home located in a residential area close to the city center and other activities, such as Marieholm Church, the swimming pool, and the bowling alley. Six young adults with various functional variations live here, each having their own apartment with an associated ground-floor terrace.
Do you want a developing and social job where you work both close to the users and as a support to your colleagues? Are you pedagogically inclined and have good knowledge of the LSS Act? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
Job Responsibilities
We need to hire a support pedagogue for our group home, Gräshoppan. The position involves a combination of tasks, where 20% of working hours are dedicated to pedagogical work, and the remainder is user-oriented work. It may also become relevant to work as a support pedagogue in several operations. In the long term, the goal is for each operation to have its own support pedagogue.
Your responsibilities include:
- Working to increase users' participation, integrity, independence, and self-determination.
- Having special responsibility for the development of the pedagogical operations.
- Gathering and spreading knowledge about sustainable and evidence-based pedagogical methods to drive the operations forward.
- Actively listening to staff thoughts and ideas and attempting to incorporate them.
- Acting as a sounding board and support for other staff regarding documentation and the creation of implementation plans.
- Assisting and supporting staff with development work in pedagogical methods to increase the individual user's participation in their daily life and promote the user's independence.
- Supervising students from relevant education programs related to the support pedagogue role.
- Actively participating in regular network meetings with other support pedagogues.
In addition to working closely with your support pedagogue colleagues and care staff, you will also have contact with, for example, relatives, nurses, rehabilitation staff, unit managers, and others. As a support pedagogue, there is an opportunity to influence the design of the work in close collaboration with colleagues and the unit manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
To work as a support pedagogue, you need a suitable post-secondary education, such as a support pedagogue degree or specialization in the disability field with a pedagogical focus, comprising at least 200 vocational higher education credits or 60 university credits. We also look for experience and knowledge specifically regarding the LSS Act and its legislation.
We are looking for someone with a strong interest in development work and who feels confident taking a leading role in this. You are expected to contribute to developing the pedagogical work in the operations and ensure good quality in documentation. An important part of the role is the ability to identify needs and design pedagogical solutions based on each individual's prerequisites. You are skilled at motivating and engaging your colleagues in development work.
Furthermore, you need to be responsible, see solutions instead of obstacles, and enjoy varied tasks. Having a humble approach and valuing good collaboration is seen as a matter of course.
A manual B-driver's license is required.
Employment Terms
When applying, we want a CV showing your previous merits. You may omit the cover letter; instead, you will answer some selection questions. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and good references. Prior to an employment offer, we will also request an extract from the criminal record register: "Elderly or persons with disabilities".
Probation may be applied.
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent.
Start date: September 1, 2026, or as soon as possible according to agreement.
