Rävebergsskolan is a school with students from preschool class to grade 3. Over 185 students with different experience worlds, school backgrounds, and knowledge attend the school, contributing to our great diversity. Rävebergsskolan is located in the northern part of Lövgärdet, just outside Angered. You get here easily by local transport in about 30 minutes from central Gothenburg. The school has a student health team consisting of a school psychologist, school nurse, and special educator, with whom you will collaborate closely.

Responsibilities

As a school counselor, you are part of the school's and the school district's student health team and contribute psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student health work, you collaborate with, among others, teachers, school nurses, special educators, psychologists, school doctors, and deputy principals. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with the deputy principal and work teams to strengthen children's and young people's opportunities to achieve goals. In addition, you will have close collaboration with other school counselors in the Lövgärdet school district.

Your responsibilities include, for example, participating in the school's continuous values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consultation with staff, and interventions in groups/classes.

You also collaborate with external actors such as social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), leisure activities, and other important actors such as SSPF and Rätt kurva. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing and will conduct school social investigations and assessments prior to admission to special primary school as well as investigations of student absenteeism. You document your work in PMO and have good knowledge of the Social Services Act, the Education Act, and other regulatory documents.

Within the Primary School Administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional developers, as well as participating in external supervision. As a new counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor. Counselors in the Primary School Administration work from a common job description.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or equivalent higher education. We would like you to have experience working as a counselor and/or experience working with children and young people. Meritorious is also if you have:

- Experience of work within social services

- Experience of promoting and preventive measures

- Training in counseling methods / supervision

As a person, you are stable, empathetic, unpretentious, and confident in your professional role. You have a strong commitment to the psychosocial situation of children and young people and have the ability to meet people in different life situations. You enable children to tell their stories and contribute to highlighting students' participation and perspectives.

You are good at building relationships and are professional and respectful in your treatment of students, guardians, and colleagues. You need to have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in a team with different professions. In your work, you are structured and clear and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. You also prioritize your interventions together with the principal and other student health staff.

The professional role requires a high degree of independence, teamwork skills, and personal maturity. You enjoy working with complex issues, see opportunities, and are creative. You keep your cool in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
