The Department for University-Wide IT works with strategic IT issues and serves as a service organization for shared services. The mission includes infrastructure, administration, service, and support. The department has approximately 200 employees divided into five units.

As an IT Technician in the 1st Line Service Desk, you are the user's first point of contact with IT support. You provide professional, efficient, and service-oriented support in a broad and complex IT environment, solving problems and contributing to a positive user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and handle cases via phone, email, and support portal.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues remotely.
  • Provide pedagogical, professional, and service-oriented support to users.
  • Ensure good documentation in the case management system.
  • Follow established processes according to ITIL (incident and request).
  • Follow up and provide feedback on cases with users.
  • Contribute to the development of working methods, quality, and user support.

Qualifications

  • Relevant IT education or equivalent experience.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working in case management systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Basic knowledge in:
    • Windows, macOS (preferably also Linux).
    • Troubleshooting clients and peripheral equipment.
    • Office, email, and common user services.
    • Networking (DNS, DHCP, WiFi, VPN).

Desirable / Additional Merits

  • Experience working in a service desk or technical support.
  • Experience with ITIL-based working methods.
  • Experience with client management (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  • Knowledge of MDM (iOS/Android).
  • Experience with license and application management.
  • Experience troubleshooting in large or complex IT environments.
  • Experience creating guides or support materials.
  • Experience from an academic environment.

About the Position

The position is permanent, although a probationary period may apply. The position is 100%. Start date: September 1, 2026, or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
