Support Assistant for Specialized Housing in Skövde

Housing with special support is an adapted living arrangement for adults with disabilities who need support in their daily lives. There are two forms of housing with special support: group housing and service apartments. The operation is part of the Care and Social Services sector, Skövde Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want a rewarding and developing job. In the role of support assistant in housing with special support, you have the opportunity to contribute to our users being able to have as high a quality of life in their daily lives as possible. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our users by being a practical and everyday support. Together with the support educators, you are also part of the everyday work with the users in their daily activities. In a pedagogical way, you stimulate and motivate the individual to participation and an independent life. The assignment also includes work with documentation in our systems.

You help users with everyday activities such as household chores, personal care, leisure activities, and above all with the social aspect and interaction with other people.

The job responsibilities also include help with transfers, dispensing medication, handling physical and digital aids, and other tasks according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL).

You will work with people who have a combination of several disabilities. This requires that you have a high degree of cooperation with your colleagues. Challenging behavior occurs, and to some extent threats & violence. You need to know how to work with low-affective handling to minimize the number of incidents of challenging behavior.

Your knowledge and experience are valuable, which is why it is part of your role to contribute to the development of our common ways of working.

The position involves working irregularly during the day, evening, and every other weekend.

Within the Care and Social Services sector, we work flexibly between the different units. This means that you also work shifts (resource shifts) at other residences than the one you normally work at.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a high school education and passing grades from the care and social care program, child and youth program, or other equivalent education. It is meritorious if you have knowledge of counseling methods such as motivational interviewing (MI), social stories, or drawing and talking, as well as experience with clarifying pedagogy, low-affective handling, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).

Meritorious is also experience working with people within the autism spectrum and in work where clear structure is important, as challenging behaviors may occur.

As a person, you are calm, secure, and have a respectful approach. You collaborate well, are solution-focused, take responsibility, and can work both independently and based on given routines.

A driver's license and access to a car are required as the workplace is located outside central Skövde. You need to be able to communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as well as have computer skills and preferably experience with social documentation.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the police record) is required upon employment.
