About Us

Ward 131, part of Psychiatric Northwest, is a general psychiatric care ward located at Danderyd Hospital, just a 12-minute commute from central Stockholm. The ward offers treatment and nursing care for patients aged 18-65, primarily suffering from depression, anxiety, personality disorders, suicidality, and self-harm behaviors – but also treats patients with other conditions. The ward has a total of 14 care beds, including one for self-selected admission and five beds within the framework of National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) for difficult-to-treat self-harm behavior. Due to our dual mission, we have both a lower patient volume and higher staffing levels – for both nurses and nursing assistants. Otherwise, we are a helpful staff group that enjoys working together.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will work in a team together with nursing assistants, doctors, and paramedical staff. You are expected to lead the nursing work, which involves assessing nursing needs, planning, and carrying out – primarily psychiatric – but also somatic nursing measures. The work is varied, but a typical day includes supportive conversations, medication management, contact and coordination with care neighbors and relatives, among other things. We use Take Care as our medical record system.

Competence Development

Competence development is important to us. In addition to mandatory training, all our staff are also offered 8 days of training on self-harm behavior and DBT. As a specialist nurse, there is an opportunity to utilize your specialized competence by holding a functional role within different areas of responsibility. For those without specialist education, there is an opportunity to broaden your competence, for example through courses via the Center for Psychiatric Research.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

You who are applying must be a licensed nurse. It is desirable that you have previous experience of psychiatric care work in inpatient care or other operations where you have met individuals with psychiatric problems. Specialist education in psychiatry and/or experience of DBT is seen as meritorious, but is not a requirement. Furthermore, we see that you as a person have a genuine interest and commitment to the ward's target group and can remain calm in emotionally demanding situations. You are secure, stable, and have good cooperation skills. We are looking for you who are flexible in how you prioritize, plan, and carry out your work tasks – to cope with a varied work pace and to meet our patients' varying needs. You are clear in your leadership role and delegate tasks in a clear and fair manner. We would like you to have an interest in change and development work, and contribute with new creative ideas and take personal responsibility for driving these forward in consultation with colleagues and management.
