Medicine Ward 8 is an inpatient internal medicine ward at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund, where one of two educational units is included, our clinical education department (KUA). Here, we primarily care for elderly patients with multiple conditions from the emergency department who are investigated and treated for conditions such as heart failure, COPD, anemias, infections, diabetes, and cognitive impairment. At our ward, different professions complement each other with their unique competence, combined with high engagement that creates quality and a sense of team.

Job Description

In your work as a nurse, you are responsible for basic and specific nursing care, risk assessments, preventive measures, and supervision of new colleagues/students. You work closely with the patient in a team with assistant nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

Here, there are several paths for you to develop within your profession. As a newly graduated nurse, you are included in Sus's clinical foundation year program with regular training sessions that run over two academic years. We offer clinical competence development on the ward which takes place in weekly forums in the form of lectures and practical training, and by working closely with our clinical specialist in your daily work. Lectures are held regularly by experienced colleagues, and the practical training alternates with theory and can cover topics such as student supervision, ultrasound technique for PICC line insertion, drainage care, or tube feeding.

To facilitate work for nurses, we have a ward pharmacist on weekdays who prepares medications for patients, places orders, and is available to assist with medication questions. The team leader and clinical specialist are a support in the work for you as a new nurse with us.

We offer preference scheduling, which gives you the opportunity to influence how you want to work for the best balance between work and leisure.

Qualifications

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare and who have Swedish language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.
