The Department of Health Sciences operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department offers education and research in a range of subjects with a focus on the human being, health, and well-being.
The department offers courses, undergraduate programs, and advanced-level education. Our undergraduate programs include Public Health Science, Sports Science, Mental Health/Illness, Health and Rehabilitation in Working Life, and Nursing. The research is multidisciplinary and conducted within the fields of public health science, sports science, medical science, nursing, and rehabilitation science, as well as at the National Winter Sports Centre (NVC).
Job Description
The role of Research Assistant within the project "The Female Athlete" involves working with data processing and analysis, statistical models, result compilation, data visualization, research communication (visual, written, and oral), and publication of scientific articles. In this role, you will work with collected data related to the menstrual cycle, menstrual symptoms, and sex hormones.
Your Background
We are looking for a Research Assistant who has a strong interest and skill in data processing, data analysis, data visualization, and research communication. You must also have specialized competence and experience regarding research on female athletes, the menstrual cycle, and sex hormones.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A PhD in Sports Science, Sports Physiology, or a similar field
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with research questions and data concerning female elite athletes, the menstrual cycle, and sex hormones
- Experience in data processing and data analysis (e.g., RStudio)
- Advanced statistical knowledge (e.g., time series)
- Experience in data visualization, research communication, and knowledge transfer
- Documented experience in publishing in international scientific journals
- Experience in leading research projects and independent scientific work
- Fluent English (written and oral)
The following are considered meritorious:
- In-depth knowledge of menstrual and hormonal physiology
- In-depth knowledge of sports physiology in female endurance athletes
- Experience working within an international research group

The role of Research Assistant requires you to have good ability to take initiative, coordinate, and work independently. To succeed in the role, you need to be meticulous, structured, and have good problem-solving skills. You take responsibility for driving your tasks forward while having good ability to collaborate in a team. We place great emphasis on your personal suitability, with a special focus on your communicative and analytical abilities.
Employment and Start Date
The employment is a fixed-term appointment for 6 months and covers 40% of full-time work. The start date is 2026-07-06 or by agreement, latest until 2026-12-31.
